Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?

Hi All,

I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.

Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

Nancy

    Dear

I also found this Microsoft article stating that the scan issue is resolved.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/resolved-issues-windows-11-24h2#3446msgdesc But it seems not relate to the Brother scanners? eSCL scan is the cause or is the issue.

How can I see if Brother scanner uses this protocol?

Can I disable it and use another protocol?

    scanner is connected with networkcable.

    Dear

I gave this first a try as it's the easist to start with.

I don't have the installation diagnostics , I do see to uninstall the installation, and other things, like status monitor.

But I anyway went to step 2 and followed from there all steps.

after reboot, I started Cotnrol center 4, icon appears in the right bottom of my screen, but the windows does not appear on screen, it's as beforre: if the scanner is available in printers and scanners, Control center refuge to start.

If I remove the scanner from device manager, and shut down Control center4 in task management, and start the app again, then the app opens completely but there is no scanner so it can not find it.

And crazy: before I tried this, i again uninstalled everything using the uninstall option in brother utilities, rebooted, installed again the full software, then I do see a device scanner in device manager but the printers and scanners window is empty. Controle center 4 opens but gives the message no device found.. blabla same error code as you mentioned.

    OK.

And that is exactly the "bug" I was talking about. IT specialists from Brother can't figure it out either and for me he suddenly did it after the umpteenth time. You just have to spend a lot of time uninstalling everything from Brother and then reinstalling it. And in between, clean the PC every now and then (Ccleaner) and shut it down completely and wait 5 minutes. It's a drama, but in the end it worked for me.

No need to apologise, I’m from Flemish Belgium 🙂.

So I tried to use iprint and scan but : it first asks to install the complete brother sofware , which is already installed , so I click next but I keep tellling me to first install … , it won’t go to the next step .

    Definitely try this fix first.

It's simple and easy to try.

My only issue was with scanning using the Brother ContolCenter4 program.

    CC4-202 Error

Wish I would have found this months ago!

    1. Finish the installation of your printer driver full package normally (Checked on 24H2, OS Build 26100.2605 - Dec 10,2024 Windows updated PC) and it will end up with only scanner driver installation failed. (Basically it won't scan from Control Center 4 scanner app and if you want to check, open 'Brother Utilities'-->Tools-->Installation Diagnostics, it will tell you only Scanner driver installation failed).
    2. Go to 'Device Manager' --> Imaging devices --> Right click on 'Your printer name' --> Disable device
    3. Again Right click on it, but this time click on Update driver --> Browse my computer for drivers --> Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer --> on next window you should already have your printer name, just select and click on Next.
    4. On next screen you will see successfully installed a driver and click on close, Imaging device which you have just disabled will be enabled by system and then close everything, do a restart once.
    5. Just use Control Centre 4 as you usually used to scan something and it will work this time.
