This workaround with the very basic scanner app worked on my computer. I encountered the same issue with a brother MFC-J480DW. It printed but could not scan even with Windows Protected Mode turned off in Windows 11. Thank you for finding and sharing this solution. Its good enough to get through until a "hopefully" more permanent solution is available. I'd hate to give up what has been a very reliable and trusty printer/scanner
Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?
Hi All,
I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.
Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks.
Nancy

2025-01-30T21:18:40+00:00 Hi. The reason I said to use Ccleaner as much as possible in between is because it helped me. Lots of uninstalling, installing and running CCleaner. I don't know what the problem was. I do know that it is now resolved and my scanner works, but not with ControlCenter4, but with iPrint&Scan. I can't help you further. Sorry.

2025-01-30T18:26:55+00:00 Version 24H2 was released on October 1st. If Microsoft hasn't fixed it in the 120 days (4 months) since release, what makes Brother support think Microsoft will fix it in February? I would guess earliest it will be fixed is with version 25H1. Seems a release date hasn't been announced as yet.

I also talked with Brother support
the confirmed it's an issue caused by 24H2 update from Microsoft.
this article was send to me:
They said in month february it will be solved.
How to check this if Microsoft is going to solve it after two days?

2025-01-29T19:55:29+00:00 Dear Tonrood
I just took the time to uninstall everything to do with brother ADS-2800W LAn scanner: used Brother utility to uninstall all, went to remove program and uninstalled USB something, , uinstalled everything in this list that is from brother, checked device manager: added back the scanner, to delete it from device manager, with also deleting the drivers, So all is deleted.
REbooted, installed CC cleaner, start to clean the register, rebooted, again some scanner files in register, rebooted, then finally noting to see from scanner .
So that said, I try to understand the next steps.
I just finished now to uninstalle everything from scanner.
So next step is to just install back the complete software from Brother.
But what do you mean : in between clean the pc ..using cccleaner.
So after I installed the complete software, I must use ccleaner to clean up registry?
then shut down laptop.
and wait 5 mintues then start laptop.
then I asume to test the Control center 4 app?
