In step #3 you indicate that we should see a list with our printer shown. On the left side where manufacturers are brother doesn't even appear. Others apparently are seeing brother appear in the list. Am I doing something wrong?
Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?
Hi All,
I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.
Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks.
Nancy

2025-02-06T00:26:04+00:00 This post by Ivan worked for me with my Brother HL-L2380DW to force the scanner driver to install after failing with the standard Brother software installation. If you try and it still fails, also check Software Devices and set the driver there too. After doing this scanning worked in the PC software (Control Center) and from the printer/Scanner LCD.
Here is the thread with Ivan's post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-version-24h2-will-not-allow-brother/c6ac6d53-0d79-4e1a-b3f5-8794bf0a648e

2025-02-05T15:40:40+00:00 I have the problem with my Brother MFC-6490CW printer/Scanner/Fax on my home network using my new Windows 11 laptop.
I was unable to get the W11 Control Center 3 download (from Brother website) to install. It did download and un ZIP.
I was able to download and install Control Center 3 for Windows 10 (64) but when trying to scan I get a message "unexpected error -restart computer (cc3-003-00031c0e) Restart does not help.
My old Windows 10 machine with Control Center 3 works OK.
If and when this is fixed, or a simpler work around is found, I would like to know please.

2025-02-04T20:17:29+00:00 Dear
An update, after I uninstalled all of brothers software and used ccleaner to delele what is left from Brothers in the Windows registry, rebooted and used again CC cleaner , to check for Brothers registry's present, and some found , then last reboot and last check with CC fount nothing anymore.
So days later I decedid to install the complete software, supports windows 11 , for my Brother ADS 2800W scanner.
Of course the same issue, in device manager the driver and device were to be seen, but in the scanners and camera's nothing to see.
So I combines all solutions here and it was fixed.
Without rebooting in between, as first time if did not succeed.
So I opened device manager: disabled the device, manually installed the driver, as the brother driver was already installed in the frist full software, it was the first and only driver I could see, after selecting that I myself want to select a driver in my pc.
So I reintalled it , directly after installed the full software, with my windows open from device manager and scanners and camera's.
AFter the driver was manually reinstalled, the scanner showed in the scanner and camera's.
I dit not reboot the laptop after I manually reinstalled the driver, as was mentioned in the steps in one of the replies.
So I tested Control center4: this time it does not crashed or freezes but opens and then used Control center 4 to scan a document: works .
I then tried to scan from the scanner itself using the pre installed short cut: I could't find the pc, but I changed the setting of this shortcut and could select my laptop (that was not long ago completely formated with an image of lenovo, so I had to install 24H2, as it was an old image).
and even scanning from the scanner , worked perfect.
I rebooted the laptop and tested again, no issue, and still my scanner to be seend in scanners and camera's.
Thanks for al the support.

2025-02-01T14:22:29+00:00 Thank you to whoever posted this. It worked like a charm. My Brother DCP-L2540DW will now scan from the Control Center and directly from the printer/scanner.
