Win 11 ver. 24H2 causing Brother scanning driver install to fail. How to fix?

Hi All,

I have a Brother DCP-7065DN multi-function machine, connected to my Windows 11 desktop computer. I was having some problems with a label printer and pursuant to that I disinstalled the Brother software and re-installed it. Since the re-install, the Brother printer driver installed but the scanner driver installation failed. I've tried multiple times.

Brother has noted this as a problem with Windows 11 Version 24H2. (See attached link.)

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

I'm questioning now whether this is a Microsoft problem or a Brother problem. What seems to be failing is the Brother driver installation. When it's actually installed, it works so maybe Brother needs to change something to make their packages 11 24h2 compliant

As a follow-up to my original posts for a J5855DW MFC:

    1. Microsoft released updated drivers last week for scanning for my MFC.
    2. Yesterday, I saw an updated software package on the Brother Website. I successfully installed the full feature package with all features,

    today and all is well.

Note: this was a clean install on a fully updated Windows 11 machine. Success at last!

At last thanks for the update Patrick - Perhaps you can add which KB it was for the crowd following.

Did not help. Brother scan utility still could not find the scanner.

I have Brother MFC-J430W and had same issue with Windows 11. ControlCenter4 cannot find the scanner. and I cannot use the "scan" button on the machine to scan to PC. I used windows scan app to do the job but its function is limited.

Now I found this discussion page and tried again. I did a clean install of the full brother software package, ControlCenter4 did not work as before. I tried to update the driver in the device manager, followed the instruction mention in this thread, there is only 1 driver for my machine "Brother MFC-J430W LAN", nothing else. (My MFC is connected through wireless not LAN.) I installed it. it shows a different error message this time. "[TW006] Failed to connect to the device". I donot know if it is caused by the wireless connection. Since my setup does not allow me to connect through LAN, I am still stuck with the temporary solution - the SCAN app.

How were the drivers there? Did you let windows automatically install the drivers or did you install from Brother's software package? You need to uninstall any Microsoft drivers, uninstall the device, reboot, install from Brother's full software package, reboot, go to device manager and choose update driver for the network scanner choosing the already installed Brother driver, reboot again. Try scan, should work
