I have no audio
Need fix for lost audio from update to Windows 24H2
I updated to Windows 24H2. I have now lost all of my audio. When I hover my mouse over the sound icon in the tray, it shows that "No audio device is installed". How do I fix this?

2025-02-02T00:55:54+00:00 You should be able to contact the manufacturer of your computer/laptop if it didn't come with a sound card. Otherwise, if you had sound but lost it when Microsoft did an update, you can contact Microsoft support and they will help you figure out what to do.

Based on the comments received and my experience with this issue, the problem lies in the drivers for the sound devices listed in Device Manager. If you are comfortable with drivers, then you either need to update to different driver (maybe an older one, maybe a newer one) on your sound devices. If you are not comfortable with drivers, I suggest you speak with Microsoft Support and they can remote access your computer and fix the issue.

2025-02-01T20:10:17+00:00 I tried MS support and they helped me located the company site in China that made my MiniPC. I contacted them, they sent me a link to their "driver updates", but I decided not to install them (chicken, chicken,....) . In my case, my audio was not lost but had a loud, obnoxious, scratching sound about every 5 seconds. I reinstalled 24H2 (on a clean Win 11 copy without that patch; from a drive C image), but the sound remained. A few days later the scratching sound totally disappeared and everything is fine now. I have no idea what caused it or what fixed it. I hope you have similar good luck. To summarize: the experience was a real waste of my time
