Since Windows 11 24H2 update everything runs slow and takes longer to load

Ever since this update, my system takes a long time before it's fully up to speed. I'm talking 10 minutes or more. Even the opening screen where I enter my PIN takes longer to come up. After entering the pin, it takes a while for the app icons to show on the desktop and even then the taskbar arrives later. I can't get Outlook or Chrome to launch right away. It can take minutes for them to load and be responsive.

Even after the system is functioning more normally, it is still slower than before the update. Emails take a few seconds longer to open up. Files take longer to open. Chrome tabs take longer to show.

I've checked Task Manager. My CPU is at less than 10% and my RAM at 59% with apps open. Hard disk doesn't show a lot of activity. I've looked at processes and don't see anything that's consuming a lot of resources. Nothing obvious is showing up. I've made sure to turn off a lot of apps at start up that were unnecessary.

I've also turned off sys.main. Before that, everything was even slower and more annoying than what I have already described. Two other annoying things I've discovered. Microsoft turned off Malwarebytes and turned on Defender anti-virus without my permission. It also turned on Edge. None of these things should have been activated without asking my permission. The update should keep every app the way it was either turned on or off.

24H2 has changed something in my computer that affects all activity and load times. It is not hardware related.

I have a fairly fast cpu, ram and SSD disk access speed. This is a gaming computer. It worked fast before the update. I've made a few adjustments to speed things up but those were not necessary before 24H2.

I do enjoy reading the replies...they will never just admit that their software is ****. Which is the reason for issues 90% of the time

    Hi, I made some tests, too, and I found that an on-site upgrade to 24h2 works fine. The thing is, you should have a lot of patience to run the media from the slow Windows OS.

    We've been pilot testing a handful of users and half of the 20 or so are experiencing issues with slowness. From unusable slow to noticeable.

    The pilot group consisted of laptops going from:

    -Win10 22h2 to Win11 24h2

    -Win11 21h2 to 24h2

    -Win11 22h2 to 24h2

    -Win11 23h2 to 24h2

    Things I've noticed that helped, but didn't completely fix it:

    -Power profile was set to Maximum Efficiency (when it previously wasn't), switching to balanced or high performance helped.

    -Update all bios and drivers from manufacture site.

    -Update all pending windows updates.

    We've now reverted to keeping all devices only up to Win11 23h2 until this buggy 24h2 release is fixed.

    Since i had the 24H2-F***Slowiness on my Legion Lenovo tower, i tried to update my laptop (Inspiron i7) from Win11-22H2) to win11 with MS upgrade tool (https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11).
    When     creating the ISO, it asks if i want to disable the Bitlocker automatic launch, which i answered NO BITLOCKER.
    Launched then the upgrade on my Laptop, went fine and rebooted.
    BOOM, even with No bitlocker, Laptop is launched in twice as much time as befoer: 300 seconds instead of 150 on this machine.
    No way to come back, except backing it up with Acronis which ran on the machine BEFORE the 24H2.

    Then back to normal, thx Acronis.

    Conclusion: slowiness of 24H2 is not due to Bitlocker, as it was effectively OFF.

    Hey Microsoft, when will you fix this BS????

    Same issue here. 10900k, 3090, 64gb ram, and this update makes my computer run like a dumpster fire. My apps are lagging and crashing, super strange behaviors in different apps, my windows buttons and app windows are non-responsive, lost performance, etc. I rolled back my build to 23h and everything was better, unfortunately I forgot to disable auto updates and it installed it again and went back to the same issues. How and why would this update get a green light, and why hasn't it been fixed?? Unacceptable.
