[Solved]Unable to update or reinstall Windows... again

I had a very similar problem about 8 months ago ([Solved]Unable to update or reinstall Windows - Microsoft Community) and I'm having essentially the same problem right now after a reboot.

I know I'm using a different Microsoft account now, but this is actually the same computer as in the above post.

I receive the following error code when trying to update Windows:

0x800070002 (Win11 23H2 Update12, KB5048685)

Same as last time, I tried:

DISM - says it can't find the source, 0x800f081f

SFC - says windows can't launch the repairing service

Reinstall win11 using iso - If I use the latest iso from the Microsoft website it says "A driver or service on your computer isn't ready for this version of Windows" and won't let me reinstall. If I use an older iso I already have, it will just tell me "install failed" at around ~60-70%.

Because this is very similar to last time's issue (or at least I think so...), I will upload the same log file that I was asked to upload last time.

If you don't delete the partitions, the old data will be stored in Windows.old.

You may be able to recover Appdata folders for individual apps. Store apps will be gone. Though you can recover personal files from Windows.old, it's advisable to backup those folders to external drive before doing the clean install.

    Just tried the latest iso from MS website, it still says something like "A driver or service on your computer isn't ready for this version of Windows. Windows Update will provide you this version of Windows when the problem is solved."

    Should I try the "old" iso?

    Regarding "step 4", I think it happens if SFCFix was run on your system before and the settings are stored already.

    Regarding Step 6, please try the 23H2 ISO.

    Once again, thanks for the quick reply

    step 4: SFCFix seems to be working fine, but I didn't have the prompt "Will you allow SFCFix to communicate with Sysnative servers?" during the process. Is this normal?

    step 6: Should I use the "old" or the "new" iso?

    Hi, This is Ramesh.

    We can fix this using a third-party tool named SFCFix.exe (written by an MVP).

    1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro of Sysnative forums) and save this to your Desktop.

    1. Download the file, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.

    1. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it. [See illustration image: https://imgur.com/a/7i4Y8g8]
    2. When you see the prompt "Will you allow SFCFix to communicate with Sysnative servers?", type "n" for no. Press Enter to continue.
    3. SFCFix will now process the script. It will take some time to complete. Upload the output file SFCFix.txt to your OneDrive.
    4. Restart Windows and attempt to install updates.
