Update KB5050009 not installing.

This is the only thing that worked for me:

4. Place a check in the "Automatically restart my PC 15 minutes after installation" option, then select OK.

Downloading and installation will take about an hour, depending on the speed of the computer, if the C: drive is a Hard Disk or an SSD, and the transfer rate of its onboard memory.

6. Once done installing, the computer must be restarted. As the system starts back up, it will report installing updates. It may in fact auto-reboot a time or two, until all the updates are completed.
7. Once Windows come back up, we will find our preferences, apps and data are intact, save system interception apps, such as Start Menu X, mentioned above, which can be easily reinstated by simply launching the app again.
8. Go back into Start / Settings / Windows Update and select Check for Updates, then go into Advanced Options / Optional Updates, to install any optional updates, if any, that are needed for the very latest version of Windows 11 24H2."

It worked without a glitch!

I have tried everything I have seen suggested so far online, and everything leads to:

• Restart
• Installing updates, then stalling at 36%
• "Something didn't go as planned"
• Recovering

I have also updated my Recovery Partition to 821MB. Doesn't make a difference at all.

Here's an idea Microsoft: instead of "Something didn't go as planned", how about you listed what the actual problem is? Would be kind of helpful.

I have now paused updates in the hope that Microsoft wakes up at some point and fixes this very broken update.

I faced the same problem however I have had this problem back in 23H2 version.
The fix is pretty simple, you go to the settings, updates, in the bottom tabs there is "Pause updates for 1 week" Once you press it, you have to click on Resume updates and it scans the current version by verifying that you already have the KB5050009 Update installed and the issue is fixed.

It seems that this fixed the problem for me. Meanwhile i got several additional updates after that.

I´ll hold you in loop, if there´ll appear other issues....

Some of the nerds at my job are doing this:

1. go to the start menu
2. search "services"
3. search for "Windows Update" in the Services window
4. right click on Windows Update" and select "stop"
5. open up a file explorer window and go to "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution"
6. delete everything in that folder
7. go back to the "services" window
8. right click on "Windows Update" again and click on "Start"
9. Reboot your computer
10. try windows update again.

I guess this is an old fix from windows 7 days..? good luck!
