I have a Canon MF643cdw printer as a local printer on a Windows 11 pro desktop connected by usb. A few days ago I upgraded the desktop to the Windows 24H2 level. When I now switch on the printer, the printer itself prints 4 pages. On the first page there are a few lines :

POST /ipp-print HTTP-1.1

Connection: keep alive

Content-type: application/ipp

User-agent: Windows internet print provider

Content-Length:626

host:local host"

I already uninstalled and re-installed the printer, unchecked the informative notifications. But no success. Before the upgrade everything worked well, the issue was introduces by the 24h2 upgrade.

What is the solution for this?

Just in case this helps anyone. I suffered the same problem as bernard77 for my Canon mf249dw printer on a Windows 11, version 23H2 system. Under a call to Canon support, the rep explained that the problem was due to microsoft updates which were causing the condition for USB connected printers.Because the software fix for that would have to come from Microsoft and as far as he knew wasn't yet available, he advised the only solution for me was to switch the printer to use a wifi rather than the usb connection. He helped me go through the complicated process to do that and now I no longer have the spurious printing occurring.

I had similar problems with two Epsons (2 similar epsons with two similar laptops)

After finding out it was an usb problem because of the W11 update.

I put a usb to utp adapter in the mix.

Usb in the laptop, utp in the printer.

    Et Voila, problem gone.

I hope this works for those other printers as well!

What is the solution for this?

This issue is likely caused by Windows 24H2's handling of Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). Try these steps:

    1. Disable Internet Printing: Go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off and uncheck Internet Printing Client.
    2. Check Default Printer Port: In Devices and Printers, right-click your printer > Printer Properties > Ports tab. Ensure it's set to USB and not an IPP port.
    3. Update/Reinstall Drivers: Download the latest drivers from Canon’s website and reinstall.

If the issue persists, check Windows 24H2 updates for bug fixes.
