Why is Task Host stopping my PC from shutting down?

Whenever I shut PC down it says I have one app open and need to shut it down first. There is no apps open. The message also mentions the Task Host stopping the shut down.

    One year old HP tower computer. Will not shut down correctly. Says Closing one AP and shutting down.

    Task host Window...Stopping background tasks"

    When looking for updates to Windows 11, just keeps running with no result circle just spins.

    So tried Troubleshooting: nothing here.

    This just started happening about a month ago. I now have to make sure I turn off this notification so computer will then turn off.

    I had luck with another suggestion earlier in the thread: Instead of shutting my PC down normally, I held down the power button until it shut off. When I booted back up, my Windows Update finally started to work, and since then I haven't had Task Manager preventing shutdown. Thanks to the people who suggested it!

    Did not work. After do what you said. the message was: "The Windows Update diagnostic failed to run I'm sorry.  I was unable to run the Windows Update diagnostic. I might need to transfer you to an agent to help solve your problem.Would you like to talk to agent?"
