After the 4 Feb 2025 update, Outlook New can't connect to my email provider

Everything was working fine until I saw the update finish.

There have been no other changes.

IMAP, SMTP and password info are correct.

charter.net doesn't recognize the Outlook (New) login attempt.

NOTE: This is a Windows 11 PC (4 months old). I can't, nor do I want to, go back to Outlook "Classic".

I can login to my charter account and see my email (only). I have additional family accounts in Outlook (New).

I am afraid of losing data (For a third time) because of this updated ***** program.

Any suggestions?

    Sorry but that does not work. Giving up on New Outlook. Sticking with Thunderbird. It worked the first time and every time. NO fuss no muss. Microsoft get your act together.

    what setting specifically in norton 360 did you change?? i went in under security.. advanced.. smart firewall. and looked at program control and under there microsoft outlook is allowed for all. thats the only place i see outlook. so where did you change your settings??

    After the early February Outlook for Windows app update, I lost one IMAP account and could not repair or re-add it. On February 27 I received a new app update to Outlook (new) and it bricked my main email account.

    I uninstalled Outlook (new) and am now using a free email client without problem. My three IMAP accounts work just fine on Thunderbird. I was down to my least-used IMAP email account on Outlook (new).

    After a month of hoping the Outlook for Windows app fixed its authentication issues, I gave up. The latest Outlook (new) app update killed another IMAP account. I had enough.

    The top mail app on apple macOS and apple iOS/iPadOS devices is also outlook so not sure how this is the most cost effective way to snub msft. Easier and more cost effective option would be install These are the best Mail app alternatives for your Windows PC > #1 spark .
