Hi, I can't upgrade my win 11 from 23H2 to 24H2

Here is panther and rollback logs.

I've tried setupdiag, cleanboot, driver update, unplugging all external hardware, sfc, chkdsk, dism. Nothing helped.

Hello,

I'll try to describe everything from scratch:

Note: I have a system drive running on an NVMe disk and a data drive configured as RAID 1. Additionally, BitLocker is enabled on my system disk.

First Issue:

During an in-place upgrade, the installation proceeds through the initial checks and starts the upgrade process. At this point, I see the following screen:

Once the process reaches 95%, the PC reboots but fails to start. After several failed attempts, the system rolls back the upgrade, and upon reboot, Windows displays an error message:

Solution:

As suggested by Ramesh, I completely disabled the SATA controller (or you can switch it to AHCI mode) since it wasn’t required for my Windows installation. This allowed the upgrade process to proceed further.

Second Issue:

After completing the first phase, the PC reboots at 95% (as mentioned earlier) and continues installing the update up to 30%.

  • After the second reboot, the installation reaches 100%.
  • However, on the final reboot, a BSOD with the error "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" appears.
  • After several failed attempts, Windows rolls back the installation and upon reboot, Windows displays an error message: Image

Solution:

  1. Deleted RAID drivers (though I don’t believe this was the cause of the issue, just noting it for reference):
    • rccfg.inf
    • rcraid.inf
    • rcbottom.inf
  2. Completely disabled BitLocker, as suspending it didn’t resolve the issue.

    1. Please download to a new desktop folder:

    Download Windows 11

    1. Detach / disconnect non-Windows disk drives and other non-essential hardware
    2. Place the computer into clean boot:

    1. Disconnect Ethernet and Wifi
    2. Perform an in place upgrade repair using the desktop iso:

    1. Perform updates after a successful upgrade
    2. For any upgrade failure post a new upgrade_failure_info share link

    Hi Alexey,

    The following fix list removes additional drivers, including the chipset driver, so it's not without risks. Please backup the registry using Acelogix RegBak, create a Restore Point, and preferably create an image-based backup using Macrium, Hasleo, or a similar tool. Also, have the Windows 11 USB setup disk ready, just in case.

    Download fixlist.txt

    Save Fixlist.txt to the folder where FRST64English.exe is located.

    Close all programs.

    Launch the Farbar Scanner tool and click "Fix".

    Restart Windows when prompted.

    Upload the output log file (FixLog.txt) to your OneDrive.

    Note: Another user solved the 0xC1900101 error by turning off VMD and enabling the AHCI mode in UEFI settings.     Hello Ramesh,

    Thank you for the suggestion. Disabling the SATA controller allowed the upgrade process to proceed. However, during the final boot, a BSOD occurred with the error message "INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE."
