I'm pretty sure this occured after the latest update (which is actually four updates). I removed all four updates and the right click latest file function is still not there.
The update was: March 25, 2025-KB5055063 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 10 Version 22H2 - Microsoft Support
The first update removed as listed is KB5054978. I lost track of the other 3 updates installed at the same time.
THIS IS THE EXACT MAIN REASON I WOULDN'T GO TO WINDOWS 11!!!! I'll be glad when there are no more win10 updates!
How do I get this right click function back? Below is the menu I get when I now right click on a pinned start menu, program:

By the way, according to the article linked in my post above, the update to fix this issue was pushed on April 25, so if you're still experiencing it, simply restart Windows (note that logging out and logging back in is not sufficient; restarting Windows is required). That resolved the issue for me.
The settings option (right click on start menu), select color, allows you to get back to a "lighter" menu. It also changes the taskbar color though too.
Same - the KB5055612 update fixed the jumplist problem for me
So I also have KB5055518 installed as well as KB5055612 yet my start menu jump list is still gone. Oddly enough if I pin the app to the taskbar and right click it, it shows all my pinned and recent files in the taskbar menu, but right cliking on the start menu shortcut still shows nothing. Before I got KB5055612 I tried uninstalling KB5055518 and sure enough the start menu pinned files were there. But forgot and next day accidentally let updates happen and it reinstalled KB5055518 and pinned gone again. Haven't tried uninstalling both then installing KB5055612 first maybe then KB5055518 but don't think that'd make much difference. Again tho, if app is pinned to taskbar the jumplist is there so it's not fully gone, just unable to show in start menu for whatever reason. However I got enough on my taskbar, I want it on my start menu.
That's wild. On April 23, KB5057056 installed on one of my computers where the jumplists had continued working after the April 8 updates. During the afternoon of April 24, I noticed that the computer seemed to be running a bit slow, so I rebooted it (the machine is normally on 24/7). This afternoon, I realized that the jumplists were broken on that computer. I'm not sure exactly when the jumplists broke on that machine since I don't use them on that machine every day, but it's likely that they broke in the last week.
As of now, 2 of my 5 Windows 10 machines have broken jumplists. One broke on April 8 (I used the jumplists on that machine daily, so I noticed it quickly), and the other broke in the last week. Both of the broken machines are used every day and remain on 24/7. The 3 that don't have broken jumplists are rarely powered on. I probably won't turn them on again until the May Cumulative Updates are available.
