Windows 11 Sign Issues with Challenge Phrase

Hi,

I am trying to sign into my laptop as normal, but it says my password has been entered incorrectly so I have to enter the challenge phrase A1B2C3 and then my password. I know my password is correct but it keeps locking me out saying it is incorrect. I've followed Windows 11 tutorials to fix login issues but none mention the challenge phrase, which seems to be our issue.

    I haven't turned on the PC in 3 years. It bootsk asks for the PIN. I enter, it says it's wrong, wrong wrong, ask for a challenge phrase. what's that? I don't even have one setup. The challebnge phrase concept was implemented when the PC wasn't even turned on. Yet now I can't login. Online help says to reset. Reset, I don't even recall where the original install disk is, how do i do this? This PC is 10 years old.. This doesn't make sense.

    On my hotmail/live.com account I know the password, i know the authenticator 2factor info, and of course the password. Why can't it fix it by using that? I'm stuck in limbo and the online help is useless.

    This happend about 18 months ago to me. The only solution was to delete windows 11 and re-install.

    There is no other way of fixing this ongoing problem. Be prepared to lose some saved files before attempting this.
