Windows 11 Sign Issues with Challenge Phrase

I am pleased to know that you overcame this crazy system of locking someone out

of their own device because of confusion with a password.

My father (98 yo) was not so lucky. Even though it was turned off for an

extended time this made no differece. I neede to do a hard reset and lose any information

that was saved. Thankfully it is a newish (under 12 months old) computer and we

did not lose a lot of saved documents

When it recovered I was able to save emails etc.

Thanks for writing your note. Maybe Microsoft will think about making it easier

for the older generation use a computer.

I just ended my experience with this issue. Just as you stated, the problem is my dad locked himself out of this Windows 11 HP desktop by repeatedly typing the wrong password to open the computer. After total exasperation, I gave up and set up an appointment with Best Buy, meaning there would be no further hope for the next several days until our appointment came. In the meantime, dad left the computer turned off for some 45 minutes (could have been longer) and then tried again. This time the computer booted normal and he entered the correct password and ahah!, it worked. Computer is operating normal as ever. Go figure. I am really pissed at Microsoft for not suggesting this for all the people who struggled with their stupid programming. Dad's 85 years old, what do people expect?????

I just had this happen to me today as well. I opened my laptop and it sat on the boot screen for a long time, like it does during a win upday. Then the main window display popped up where I usually use my finger print to log on (which is a security log on option on my Samsung). I scanned my finger and the log on screen popped up saying that I have entered my passcode incorrectly several times which is crazy because I scanned my finger only once and it prompt me to enter my Challenge Phrase. This has never happened before, what is that? I never had to set up a Challenge phrase before. There were other options to log on towards the buttom of the screen and when I select use my pass code, it goes back to the "Enter your Challenge Phrase"again. WTH! I need help because I need my laptop to run meetings.!

This is annoying. My 98 Y/O father is having trouble with this problem also.

I have been looking around for a solution. Most solutions suggest going to settings

and reset password. Not that easy. No provision for anything but "Challenge Phrase"

Then put in password. Note shows up that password is incorrect nd we go around again.

I am all for a class action. It is not right that an owner cannot use his/ her computer.

Where are the opytions for a password rest?
