Hi,
I am trying to sign into my laptop as normal, but it says my password has been entered incorrectly so I have to enter the challenge phrase A1B2C3 and then my password. I know my password is correct but it keeps locking me out saying it is incorrect. I've followed Windows 11 tutorials to fix login issues but none mention the challenge phrase, which seems to be our issue.

The SafeMode Restart still boots only to the Challenge Phrase option. There is no Password Option
I am having the same issue Kevin. Did you ever receive resolution? I’ve tried F5 and F6. Options. They take me back to a log in screen that’s slightly zoomed in but the same challenge phrase prompt remains. I notice there are only options to restart and shut down so it might be some mode, but not the safe mode.

First of all congratulations on your problem being solved, then I'm going to give you a brief introduction to the "challenge phrase".
"Challenge Phrase" is a new approach taken by Microsoft to thwarting brute force attacks or cyber trespassers. In general, the verification of the challenge phrase occurs only after lots of failed PIN code logins. This attack is because there are a large number of identical passwords or PIN codes, they through a amount of attempted logins, occasional successful logins have been achieved.
So we recommend that you change your password and PIN in time, and develop a good habit of changing your password regularly.

I'm having the same issue, and I cant get rid of it and I've changed my pin three times. How do I get rid of completely.

I'm sorry I misunderstood you.
You can try to enter safe mode and try to log in. Press and hold the Shift key on the login screen, then restart, after restarts to the "Choose an option" screen , select "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced options" > "Startup Settings" > "Restart", after restarts, you' ll see a list of options. Select 4 or press F4 to start your PC in Safe Mode. Or if you'll need to use the internet, select 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
If possible, you can take a photo of the login interface and attach it to the next reply, so that we can better solve the problem.

Hello,
I have since yesterday the same issue. MS-Support promised new installation, that failed because of bitlocker.
Actuallay the bitlocker pin is known and available. But trying to deactivate it via safe mode failed of the challanging phrase and pin-issue.
I found an workaraound on the net: (8) Windows 11 -Passwort vergessen FIX - YouTube
Works till choosing the partition, because of bitlocker :(
On another Win11 PC there are Options for choosing use password and renew the pin....
The issue popped up after an Update.
