Lenovo Integrated Camera Not Working with Windows 11

Both my husband and I have Lenovo laptops (S340-15IIL Touch Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81WW and IdeaPad 5i) and after the latest windows update our integrated cameras do not work in any apps or programs. We have tried all the troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, F8, etc.

When we view the camera in settings it has a solid gray box (the indicator light shows next to the camera showing it is in use). Also have tried the Camera app and experience the same gray box. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

I kept having this problem with my 6th gen X1 Carbon on Windows 11. I updated the driver from the Lenovo site, completely removed the device and installed it again from official drivers. Regardless, I would frequently have to "troubleshoot" the camera, usually when I need to get online for a telehealth session with a client. Finally, after almost two months of screwing with it, I found my solution: I downgraded to Windows 10.

Go to the Windows 10 media creation tool, download it, and run it when you're ready. Fair warning: this will mean nuking your system, so make sure you have your files backed up to the cloud.

Oh My God. You are a Hero and a genius ZEBULON2. Cannot Thank you Enough. Had tried each and every thing. Updated drivers, Uninstalled and Installed, Repaired, Reset, Troubleshooted, Disabled. Each time closing and restarting. I even went to the command prompt to restore Image health. Tried Each and everything and Finally gave up. Did not ever imagine the solution to be so simple.

Great Job Sir. Take a Bow. You are a Hero. Thank you for Posting.
