Lenovo Integrated Camera Not Working with Windows 11

Both my husband and I have Lenovo laptops (S340-15IIL Touch Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81WW and IdeaPad 5i) and after the latest windows update our integrated cameras do not work in any apps or programs. We have tried all the troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, F8, etc.

When we view the camera in settings it has a solid gray box (the indicator light shows next to the camera showing it is in use). Also have tried the Camera app and experience the same gray box. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

This might work because I have tried everything else and nothing has worked.

However when I try to uninstall it, it says to restart. When I restart, I see the same update installed.

Can you please guide how you went about to uninstall the update?

    Thanking in advance

    Hi guys,

This worked for me: I installed Driver Booster and then updated the drivers offered by Driver Booster. That´s it.

    Good luck

If none of any suggestions by other contributors solve this issue, kindly purchase a low cost webcam of any reputable brand, and connect to notebook/laptop.

I connect a low cost Logitech webcam to my Lenovo S340 notebook, it solve the problem immediately.

Several week later, I read from Microsoft Community (this community) and Lenovo's Community, about how other consumers solved this builtin webcam issue by "Pinching" the bezel (monitor frame) surrounding the webcam.

    It worked for my case.

Hope this feedback helps other consumers.

    Hi NicoleF_ATL,

I have been having the same problem for past 2 months. I also tried uninstalling recent updates but turns out is just a temporary workaround. Today I finally called Lenovo Customer Care they guided me and helped to resolve this. Let me share the method for anyone that might find this helpful.

The problem occurs because of Window's incompetency to delete old drivers once new ones are installed. The issue was I had 2 different drivers installed for the same camera. To resolve ,I deleted the driver that was dated earlier (in my case May 22) then installed the new driver (dated June 23)

TO do this, Go to device manager --> Camera -- > Integrated Camera --> Update driver ---> Browse --> Pick from a list of available drivers. ---> delete old driver --> restart computer --> go to device manger again --> install latest driver for "Integrated Camera".
TO further secure my PC from this issue, I completely disabled the windows update services too and updated BIOS to latest version.

This helped me in resolving the issue. Hope it works out for you too.
