My wireless works fine and the ethernet port is on the Surface Pro 8 dock. My other Surface Pro 4 connects to ethernet just fine. The reason I need an ethernet connection is for my work VPN, the VPN doesn't work so well on wireless. Thanks
Ethernet keeps disconnecting
So I just got a new PC, everything works smoothly, however whenever I try to plug in my ethernet, it'll connect for a random amount of time (few hours or few days) and then mysteriously it disconnects.
I try unplugging and replugging it into my PC but with no results. Only when I remove it from the router and replug it in to a different port does it finally connect, but this is only a temporary solution.
Any ideas?
Drivers don't need updating, I've already checked.

2022-08-17T16:42:02+00:00 My other devices are not having any connection problems, this is unique to the Surface Pro 8 only and an issue with the device. Have already reinstalled drivers, ethernet adapters, etc. It's not my router or anything leading up to my router. Thanks for the suggestion.

2022-08-17T16:15:01+00:00 so does your wireless work? and for wired are you using a built in ethernet port or are you using a converter?

2022-08-17T16:11:52+00:00 Ethernet keeps disconnecting
I had similar problems years ago for many months.
Intermittent disconnects temporarily resolved by rebooting
disconnecting CAT5 cables and reconnecting
Windows Network Properties software configuration changes
all would fix the problem temporarily then random
disconnections.
CALL your ISP provider: Comcast, Verizon or whatever.
Request the central office test your line,
and ask for a technician visit if needed.
My problem was poor cable connections outside
on the telephone pole and other connection points
on exterior and interior: up to three or four connections
were serviced.
(Apparently the cumulative effect of 3 or 4 connections
physically degrading by oxidization, corrosion etc.)
Only after Comcast Technician visit was the connection
drop outs resolved.

2022-07-26T17:38:52+00:00 I am having the same problem with only Windows 11 for both Dell and Surface. Any resolution? The only thing in common is they all have Windows 11.
