Windows 11 widgets; how to remove these annoying news feed windows in the Widgets panel?

When hovering over or clicking on the Widgets shortcut the panel appears with ~50 of these stupid little windows all showing news feeds.

I don't mind the weather and a very few other widgets that show something useful but all of these news panels are pointless, annoying, and really leaning me more towards going back to Windows 10 where I can have real Live Tiles again without this excess junk.

How can we really customize this panel and remove all these unwanted news panels?

I have closed them with the upper-right 'X' which leaves them blank until the next time the panel opens.

I have chosen to 'Hide stories' from at least 100 different news agencies, but they continue to appear.

I have gone through the MS account 'personalize your interests' option to remove all possible genres of news.

Nothing removes the amount of windows shown or the genre of news that they continue to show.

I don't want to change what these little windows show, I want to delete the majority of the windows altogether so that only 4 or 5 at the most are there.

And why are these limited to these news feed type windows; weather, stocks, etc?

Why can't we create custom application shortcut widgets like in old Windows 7 & 8.1 add-ons with advanced options?

    This feature could have been so useful, and instead they piled a bunch of junk on it. I really want to know what the weather report looks like and possibly half a dozen information sources. Instead MSN is making me pick through the junk pile.

    I also just wanted the weather and news from my country and NOT every idiotic 'news' service the U.S. has in existence.

    Microsoft had a real chance to add something that could have been so awesome but decided to make it a cash grab even though the users they targeted have paid bloody good 💰 for this OS.

    Ahmen! Couldn't agree with you more. There is not technical reason for this except to push fake news... Whoever thought this was a good idea inside of Microsoft should be fired but it probably goes right to the top

    I don't want to disable ALL Widgets, Just that one pathetic piece of shtuff with the useless (to me) news feeds. Turning off Widgets in the task bar settings gets rid of it, but I will no longer be able to use any task bar widget I may come across and actually like.

    BTW: The Process line in the bottom of what? If I kill the process in Task Manager, it just keeps coming back. Where do I find this "Process Line". Is there any way to turn off the annoying (trash) news feeds and still keep the useful weather widget?

    You can disable feeds alltogether:

    • right click on the process line in the bottom
    • select settings for the process line
    • disable Widgets

    You said you went back Windows 10. Me too. This OS/UI downgrade they call Windows 11 is (In my opinion) trash. A great many of my user customization options and features are totally gone, and trash like these news feeds added with no seeming way to get rid of them short of disabling Widgets altogether. This OS/UI is almost beyond fixing. Where's Windows 12 with all of my user customization tools and features put back in. Until then... Windows 10. It seems that Microsoft wants users to conform to the Windows 11 UI rather than letting users customize the UI to how they work or the way they use it. We listen? .....yeah right (Not)
