Can't Change Default Apps Windows 11 (OS Build 22000.120)

The new Default App Setting is way to advance and confusing which is unecessary complex for home users. I wanted to change the default file type for Photos and Videos but I there is no jpg, png, mp4 types of file type showing when searching to change it's default app. Also I can't change the default app using explorer open with because the checkbox for always use this app is missing for both Photos and Videos. Also there is no Open with the file property too. Help Me Anyone.

    Thank you very much for this!!! It's amazing that we have to rely on other users to figure out what Microsoft moderators can't. Even their service people couldn't figure it out. The only thing I got from them is the typical "Well, you'll have to re-install Windows.....". (I'll stop now, otherwise the rant could go on for paragraphs!)

    I appreciate you posting what you did.

    These are 3 different command:

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.ZuneVideo -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.ZuneMusic -AllUsers | Reset-AppxPackage

    Run all 3 of them. Powershell, admin mode.

    Works for images, not for videos, e.g. .mkv or .mp4.

    I can live with it, just if we're looking for ultimate solution, it's not it.

    I just installed win 11 on a new pc and find that n cannot change default app for photo file extensions.

    The window app for making these changes does not work!!

    Yes, really. And latin is the most spoken language on earth.

    Microsoft made it impossible to change standard appss for common file extensions.

    Windows 10: change image viewer: 1 click.

    Windows 11: click what you want, it's blocked. greetings from evil microsoft, harrharr.

    yes, really easy to change png and jpg. you simply can'T do it without a registry hack.
