Windows 10 extremely slow after upgrade to version 21H1

!!!Thank you rolinger!!! I've been fighting this slow pc and Edge browser problem for over a year. Tried many different suggestions but none solved the problem. Had all the latest window and driver updates. Was almost ready to trash my laptop. Opening Edge was very slow, new tab would freeze and even scrolling down the web page would freeze. Turning off the Edge browser setting "Use hardware acceleration when available" fixed it for me too. Laptop is like new again. Everything works fast again. Thank you for sharing your solution.

Solution that worked for my laptop (Acer Aspire): In Edge click on the 3 dots upper right corner, then settings, a new tab opens, click on system and performance, turn off "Use hardware acceleration when available".

I've had the same issue with every iteration of Windows, going back 20 years or so. When the computer is new, it runs fast. Over time, it slows down and becomes useless and obsolete. Tired of wrestling with Windows to make it work, wasting hundreds of hours of time updating, tweaking and rebooting. I've finally had enough. I'm not spending another dime for any Windows based product. Saved my money and buying an Apple.

Wish it had been as simple. we run a 10G network and slow is different for us....

Feeds do not slow me down, not like this....

It took MINUTES to get File Explorer to move, to bring up a window, to open a browser.....

there is a big difference between SLOW and GALACIAL.

I have seen PAINT DRY faster.....

I blew it out and rebuilt....works perfect....SOMETHING SOMEWHERE did not like the change....

Do not have time to troubleshoot it down to the culprit but it was an issue. I suspect it is a registry setting on the local machine and not the domain GP.

Just upgraded my Surface Laptop and OTHER than bluetooth no longer sees devices (which is annoying but I can deal with it) it seems to be doing very well.

The blue tooth thing is very odd indeed. If I make the laptop discoverable I can see it from other devices and when they request to connect I get the proper responses from the laptop to connect and it works great.

BUT

If I have mouse or pen to attach to the laptop it does not see them and I cannot add them to my bluetooth connections.

Under the activities tool it says Bluetooth is not connected.

I have tried uninstalling, new drivers, etc ,etc, very odd probably a regedit issue somewhere.

I can live with it for the time being I do not have to have a bluetooth mouse and I rarely use the pens bluetooth functions anyway....

I think the slow down issue is random and related to a driver setting somewhere but the difficult thing is that it is VERY random.....

It is not like ALL DELL computers have this issue or ALL HP computers have this issue,,,,

I wonder if that is because of domain GP differences? I wonder how many of these are computers connected to a Domain?

Best of luck I wish we all had the same issue it would be easier to track down and repair.

Regarding the action of turning off "News and Interests". Because this feature was causing me some slight annoyance, a few days ago I turned it off. The notebook pc running Win 10 21H1, with 2021-08 Cumulative update KB5005033, has 2 users. It was after turning OFF "News and Interests" for both users, then rebooting the pc (next day), that the response became very slow, although I did not associate the cause and effect at the time. For several days the pc has been all but unusable, it was so slow.

Having today seen the discussion concerning "News and Interests" causing similar issues to those I was experiencing, I decided to do the reverse, and Turn ON "News and Interests". I did this with each of the 2 users of the pc, with no noticable effect. Then I shut down & restarted the pc. Immediately the pc rebooted, it was totally back to nornal. No juddering of the mouse pointer. Thunderbird, Firefox, Word & Excel starting & closing normally.

So, whatever "News and Interests" is doing, it may be just as disasterous to turn it off as to turn it on.

I have just typed this message with no problems at all, something I couldn't have done only an hour ago!!!
