Windows Booting very slow after 2004 update ,

Hi @GeorgeCB10 - that was from my post about stopping those 3 services. The quick way to get the services control tool is to right-click on the START MENU BOX bottom left, choose RUN, then key in services.msc then click on OK. It uses the same method (stop the service, then click on the properties for the service in question, then choose Disable for the SysMain and Windows Search, but the Windows Media Player Network Sharing one, IF THERE, you can just leave it as MANUAL once stopped), and it will be one of those in the list.

If you do NOT use Windows Media Player, or do not have Media Streaming turned on, then it may well NOT be there in the list anyway, so you can ignore that step. The Media Player is usually there on those machines that were upgraded from Wndows 7 to indows 10, and not usually on systems that had Windows 10 to start with.

Hi TD47 - I do have Windows Media Player which I use occasionally. I'm not sure what Media Steaminf is though.

I updated to Windows 10 2004 yesterday and had enormous difficulties get my laptop to boot up - it kept freezing on a blank screen. The update took hours and my laptop is noticeably slower. I notice that there is an option to undo the last upgrade but I'm not sure where or not to do this for fear that I might make matters worse - that is why I thought LucianMinea's suggestion of disabling the SySMain and Indexing services might do the trick. But, as I said, I am confused about the Windows Media Player additional option that you mentioned.

I only recommended stopping the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service, becuase it slows down the stopping of the linked service of Windows Search, and could cause a BSOD stop error.

I wanted to give this a go but I noticed that another person who replied included the following:

NOTE: MUST also do a stop and change to manual on the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service too, IF running,  BEFORE stopping and disabling Windows Search service, as the dependency will slow down the stop of Windows Search, and risk a Blue Screen 133 bug-check in DPC_WATCHDOG.

You don't mention this in your post so is this something that I need to do and if so, can you tell me how.
