Windows Live Mail cannot display message after Windows 10 update

My laptop recently updated windows 10 (I think #1909) on it's own.  After the update, my Windows Live Mail quit working.  It downloads the message headers/titles, so I know it's connecting to the gmail server, but when I try to open the message, I get the error, "Message Can't be Displayed.  Windows live mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or disk space and try again."  I have plenty of memory and disk space.  Thanks for any suggestions!  (And yes, I know I should go to a newer email client, but I have too much wrapped up in Windows Live and just want to fix it!)  Rick

    Absolutely Brilliant!!

    My greatest appreciation to you clever people for solving this problem.

    Here too, I think it was a W10 major update that killed the postman.

    As to email clients, I agree that WLM suits me fine.  I used to use Outlook Express - simple and clean - but that went the way of the Dodo.

    Then Thunderbird which became crushingly slow whenever I was moving emails into folders.  Web mail works but I hate it; an oldie like me prefers to be able to manage my own folders, do it my way:- and to date WLM mail does it best.

    Again - fantastic and well done you guys!

    I'm using one now called Mail bird, but after a couple months, I still miss WLM....

    Yeah, em client stinks, and so does thunderbird.  They are not as easy to see on the screen, and they're sloooowwww on searches. 

    It's amazing that so many people love using Windows Live Mail, and not one person as MS is smart enough to say, let's take this very popular product, update it and fix bugs, and then sell it.

    Have you seen the mail client in Windows 10?  It might be the worst interface and most useless product in the history of human computing.

    Thanks John--I miss WLM and will try this out when I get some time!  It was interesting to me that it quit working after the update (which it did automatically.......)!   Rick
