2020-06-11 - After Windows Update, printer not working

I have the same problem, tried you fix but my computer doesn't show that update number! AARRGH! 

To top it off, I've forgotten my admin password so can't even do a system restore!

My Windows 10 updated overnight and now my Brother printer is no longer printing.  Windows can "see" the printer, It knows when the printer is ideal. If I turn the printer off, Windows shows it as offline, when I turn it back on, it sees it again.

When I print something (tried PDF file, an image in Photoshop, and some simple text from notepad), it says it is printing. It goes to the Printer Que... everything seems to be working fine.... But the printer never prints.

I went to the Brother website, downloaded the latest drivers and firmware they have, installed all of that... Same issue.

When I run the Windows printer troubleshooter, it says no issue found.

I tried everything I can think of what I can find online.  The printer is being seen by Windows, just not getting the print job sent to it.

All of this started right after the latest Windows 10 Update.

And yes, I have rebooted my system multiple times, Unplugged everything and cold booted all hardware.

Need some help OR a fix from Microsoft if this is an issue in the latest update that was just sent out.

Thanks to everyone for the help and now the solution.

The problem is in the update KB4560960. Once I removed this and rebooted my printer started working again.

1. 1. Press Win+I to open the Settings app.
2. 2. Choose Update and Security.
3. 3. Click the Update History link.
4. 4. Click the Uninstall Updates link. ...
5. 5. Choose the update you want to undo. ...
6. 6. Click the Uninstall button that appears on the toolbar.

In step 5 above, I had to search a bit and then found the update in the Microsoft area. For me it had the install date of 2020-06-11, but the real key is the "KB4560960". Once I removed that, rebooted, my printer was back up and running.

To update my complaint and misery. Tried most of everything suggested. Printers not working. What finally worked was to uninstall "KB ....4560960 updates" through Start menu, settings, go to:"programs and features" look at recent history. I think a problem has been, turn off antivirus and go to  "Microsoft update catalog: download the Kb456712 as per your system. (not in safe mode). Download and restart everything. Got my stuff to work again. Not sure what else it screwed up but my printers are working again. hope this post  is helpful. turn off antivirus. LOst so many hours. just uninstalling the KB 4560960 did not do it.

Same for me. Spent a day re-installing trying everything. Used RECOVERY to go back 2 weeks (before a Win 10 update) - print restored. This morning another Win 10 updated (forced on me, no options to stop) - printer not working. Then another Win 10 update (I let it happen because I thought this would be a fix) - still not working. Now you've identified the culprit update I try reverting

Hi, thanks for posting this article.  It contained the golden nugget that solved the problem for me.

If you are using a printer connected to your PC by USB cable, you need to have the USB cable connected BEFORE you start up Windows.  I usually insert the cable after I have Windows started because I use two different PC's and switch between the two.

Once I had done that and started up windows with the USB already in the port, then sent a document to print, hey presto!  It worked perfectly.

In the meantime I've paused Windows Updates until MS get this problem fixed.  It really is such a pain when they send out these updates which totally mess up functionality.  Grrrhhhh !!!!
