Gidday all, I've been running into a issue with my GPU crashing and I have nailed it down to the error in event viewer " Failed with 0x57 retrieving AppModel Runtime status for package Windows. "

I have changed gpu drivers, completely uninstalled drivers, wiped my m.2 and reinstalled windows and nothing worked. Any ideas? Thank you

This problem happend to me each time nvidia drivers gets updated since the feb 2020.

The only solution I found was to update the drivers, before restarting enter the device manager and disable this: https://imgur.com/lAJH4UM

They are all the new devices that are added/re-enabled by the driver update.

If I forget to do that the system is unstable and even just using the browser can trigger the driver crash and a system self-reboot.

I have not found a permanent solution to this.

In addition to this issue there is a connected issue that is very rare, the screen seems to constantly change display size every 200ms or so but it get solved by rebooting and never leads to a BSOD or crash, event the log viewer is clean.

Bro I think I have solve the problem. Its something to do with people having high refresh rate monitors.

    Disable variable refresh rate in

windows settings>System>display>graphics properties and turn off variable refresh rate and restart.

keep hardware accelerated gpu scheduling on. It actually improves performance. Hope this helps.

At the moment GPU Scheduling and Game Mode are both disabled on my PC, I haven't yet got around to testing GPU Scheduling.

I did have Game Mode enabled last week, but I didn't see any change in game performance whether it was enabled or disabled so I've left it disabled.

The game (MFS2020) has always been pretty stable for me, the only time I had issues with it were the result of the two aforementioned Windows updates.

According to event viewer the issue started on the 25th of August and has accumulated over 156 times on my system in 4 days. I have NOT noted any specific crashes associated to it or any odd behaviour.

That doesnt mean i dont want to know **** is going on here....

The starting date concurs with the following driver update

    NVIDIA - Display - 27.21.14.5193

being forced on my machine by Windows update

(these are regular forced driver updates by Windows Update that can not be objected against and are silent...and occur once per month)

    I am on FAST RING 20185 Ns_prerelease 200731 1415

The actual driver installed is :

I can confirm that the Beta update fixed this issue for me. No more errors in the log and the stutter/freezes are (hopefully) gone (forever).

    Thanks alot MarianDT
