I have a new PC with W10. I decided to use the PIN code, but now I get the message "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again."

When I click 'Set up my PIN' nothing, the same message reappears.

I looked up the issue on the internet and found that I should login using another sign-in option. However, there is no way to get to another option. The text above is all I see on the screen.

Hello there! I'm sorry that didn't work. You can try this steps instead:

Turn off your PC

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button on the casing of your PC for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset

Hope this will do the trick

Hi Tom, I had this issue tonight and here was my solution (no password or pin required). Here's what I followed for the majority of my solution. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBFAzK9mgNI

If yours was caused by disabling services through /msconfig I was able to type /msconfig after I got the cmd on the Ease of Access button in the tutorial. Then I was able to enable all services and reboot my computer. After it was restarted, I was no longer receiving the Pin Error. I have a detailed response on this issue directly on page 40 of this forum.

-FIXED- /msconfig - disabled services

Hello,

I thought I should share my experience and how I fixed this issue and help people that are experiencing the same problem.

What caused it: I disabled all services under the /msconfig tab in the cmd to fix an error I was recieving on a game, and then when I went to turn my computer back on I soon realized that I was in trouble. I was getting the repeated error as stated above. I tried all the steps as suggested by Microsoft except for the reset on my computer, as I had read here in this forum that it didn't work for every one. I tried many suggestions, but here is what worked for me.

Solution:

When on the lock screen on your computer, go to the lower right hand corner and click the power button. Hold shift and then click restart (while holding shift). This will take you to the Recovery Environment or advanced startup. Then click Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then System Image Recovery, or See More Recovery Options (if System Image Recovery is not on the 1st page). Then click cancel on the page that says "Re-image your Computer". Then click next, and then on the next page click "Advanced". Then click "Install a driver" and click "Ok". Then when the new window pops up, while in System 32, try to locate the file Utilman. It may not be under that initial page. If not then click "this PC". Check your Local Disk (D:) or Local Disk (C:) for a Windows folder. Open the Windows folder. In the Windows folder, find the System 32 folder. Now in the System 32 folder, locate the Utilman file. Right click and rename the Utilman file to UtilmanA. Then click off the file and refresh the page. Then make sure the Utilman file was renamed to UtilmanA. Now locate the cmd file and rename this file to Utilman. Then refresh the page and ensure that they have both been renamed. Close and cancel out of all the pages. It will take you back the the Recovery environment page and then you will need to click continue (Exit and continue to Windows 10).

Now your computer will restart and take you back to the lock screen. On the lower right hand side click the Ease of Access button and you will now have access to your Windows Command Prompt (Different from the one in the Recovery Environment). I was then able to type /msconfig and click the services tab and enable all services. It then asked to restart my computer and once rebooted, my pin and pc was recovered!

Hope this is beneficial to someone out there!

I know it’s asking for us to get into the computer to fix stuff but that’s the entire problem if we could get into it lol WE WOULDNT BE HERE OMG!!! I just realized after a day a pin the tail on the computer just bite the bullit do a clean install.. I couldn’t seem to break out to let me in so I could let me in to break me out. I think 🤷‍♂️🤪🥵😜🤔💡
