Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

With Warm Regards

Rhaine C.

Thank you very much.  I could not remove KB:4560960 even as "run as administrator" in CMD.   I went ahead and install patch KB:4567512, like it was mentioned on this thread, and this resolved the issue.  My printer is now printing without any problems.

    Regards,

    Charlie

My PC says that it cannot remove 4560960 cause it is needed.

I have the same problem.  After a Windows update my MFC-240C printer does not want to print.  It does scan and print copies but won't print from my PC.

I have tried removing it and re-installing the driver in addition to  stopping and starting the Printer spooler, etc.. and so far no luck.

    Regards,

    CHARLIE

    Dave:

The easiest way I know of to find your Win10 version is to look for the "Type here to search" bar in the lower left of your screen, and type "winver" into it.  That will give you an option to open, which you should, then a window will appear to tell you what version of Windows you have.  Mine is 1903.

You can carry that info here:  https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4567512  ...which will allow you to download the patch & install it.

I did the earlier uninstall that was suggested, which worked for a little while but apparently it  updated itself, so it now no longer works.  Can someone tell me how I find out what version I have, and how I install the patch?

    Thanks!
