Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

With Warm Regards

Rhaine C.

I did upgrade (HA!) to 2004, the 2 KBs that were originally listed as causing this issue are coming up as not installed in my computer (I think I had already tried removing them).  Still can't print.  I used the link to the page referenced: **"**If you've already upgraded to version 2004, you'll need to use a different patch. Here's a link to the patch, although I have not tried it myself:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4567523/windows-10-update-kb4567523."

It does not appear that is actually a link to the patch, but a link to information about the patch.  At this point, I have no idea what I am actually supposed to do.  I THOUGHT I had downloaded the referenced KB from the catalog, but I still can't print.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

If you have a new computer, it may have version 2004 of Windows 10, which would require a different patch to resolve the printer problem.  I have copied & pasted LAHarrison's earlier post below which explains this, and has links to the appropriate patches for the different versions of Windows 10.

To see which version of Windows 10 is installed on your PC:

    • Select the Start  button and then select Settings .
    • In Settings, select System > About

"The culprit, in my case, was KB4560960, which caused my Brother printer not to print (MFC-J615W).

Microsoft issued a patch for it, KB4567512. I applied this patch, and everything returned to normal.

    This works in version 1909, and 1903. Here's a link to KB4567512. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4567512/windows-10-update-kb4567512.

If you've already upgraded to version 2004, you'll need to use a different patch. Here's a link to the patch, although I have not tried it myself:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4567523/windows-10-update-kb4567523.

Neither of these will come through Windows Update... you'll need to download and install them yourself."

I forgot to say that this is a new computer.  I did run firmware form brother site but no help.  I have turn off both the computer and the printer at one time or the other but never at the same time,  I guess I will give that a try,  Hope it works,  Keep turn for an update.
