Brother MFC-240C won't print after Win 10 updates

I have installed 3 Win 10 updates in the last two days (KB4560960, KB4561600, KB4497165), and now my Brother MFC-240C printer will not print anything from my computer.  When I try to print something, the job appears in the print queue for a fraction of a second, then disappears.  The printer never starts printing.  I can scan successfully, so the connection (USB) is OK.  I have tried the usual troubleshooting:  removing and reinstalling the printer, removing and reinstalling the driver package - still no luck.  I can use the copy function on the printer, and it prints out the scanned copy just fine.  Win10 appears unable to send print jobs to my printer after this update, and I have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings,

My name is Rhaine, I'm Independent Community Advisor. I’m so glad assisting you today

I am also Windows user. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try uninstalling the KB Update KB:4560960 and KB:4561608 as a workaround.

To uninstall the update using command prompt follow the steps below.

  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type cmd in the search box
  3. Right click on it and run the application using administrator.
  4. A box will open.
  5. Type the following command after replacing the KB ID with the one that you wish to uninstall: wusa /uninstall /kb:[id]
  6. Example: wusa /uninstall /KB:4023057
  7. Once done typing hit enter.

Once done uninstalling the both KB update restart your pc and try to check if issue persist.

I hope the steps above helps. Have a nice day ahead and be safe.

With Warm Regards

Rhaine C.

My best advice is cut & pasted from another reply:

The situation has evolved, as Microsoft has now issued a patch to correct the printer problem.

This is copied/pasted from a previous post in this thread, and is the best advice I know of now to correct the problem:

Microsoft acknowledged the printer problem caused by their update, and issued a hotfix (KB4567512) to address it last week on June 16.

After reading LAHarrison's post, I downloaded & installed the hotfix, and everything is working normally now.

Here is a link to a page where you can download the hotfix directly - you'll need to know your version of Windows to select the right fix:  https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4567512

I had the same issue.  Uninstalling that update worked.

I have the same problem.  I have a Brother MCF-J220 which was working perfectly a week or two ago when I last printed.  Please Microsoft give us another update that will fix the problem.  I can't even find my printer now.
