Halo Master Chief Collection won’t install on pc and also says I have an update for MCC when it’s not even on my pc

Since the lastest update that added halo 3 i havent been able to install Halo MCC i keep getting error code 0x80073D12

In the end I solved it (at least for me, check out if it works for you as well).

I had the impression the game didn't install because in some way, even if I had the downloading drive for new applications set as the one with the most free disk space (D:), still the Store was actually trying to install on C:.

So I did the following: first go to the advanced settings for the Microsoft Store app and deactivate the option for making it run on background. Then open the Store app and cancel all pending downloads for Halo. Then go back to the app's advanced settings and click on the button to kill the process, then click on the button to reset the app. If for any reason you're prevented from taking these steps for some kind of error, restart the system first.

Then go to Settings > Storage and click on "Change Where New Content Is Saved". Now for me, when I opened this windows, everything was already set to D:, but in my opinion that was a plain lie. So, for the option regarding new apps, I switched to C (and clicked Apply) and then back to D (by clicking Apply again). Now at this point it might be that you'll see the classic Window's loading circles circling like for ever. If it does, still wait something like 30 or more seconds, then click on the Back arrow, and go back again to the "Change Where New Content Is Saved" page. You should see that the option for new apps is D again.

So now that theoretically the drive where to save the apps is REALLY set to D this time, open the microsoft store, select MCC and start downloading it (better not to select one of the single games that are part of the package, but you're free to try. Just to be sure I preferred to download the entire bundle).

    I had many issus in order to install Halo Master Chief Collection on my Windows 10 PC. I tried a lot of solutions but nohfing worked fro my. The Solution fom my was to activate the "Optional diagnostic data" in the privacy settings from windows 10. And to install the app "Xbox Insider". I down't know but after that the installation from halo was done. :-)

    update1: I tried installing some other meaningless apps through Windows store and they install. I noticed though that even though the storage setting shows the large drive as the target for all the boxes (i put everything to it, new apps, docs, pictures etc), and i've rebooted and verified that, Windows store is still installing new apps to the C: drive.

    Update2: well apparently certain apps "Need to be installed on a system drive". Dead end.

    I set everything back to normal, pointing to c:, rebooted into safe mode, deleted all the folders on my E: (internal) and came back in. It immediately created a few (but not nearly all) of the folders that i deleted. Not sure what other apps might be jacked now, but i can't get rid of HMCC components in MSStore or Xbox App and they all still show failing. If i could just get rid of them, i'd be money ahead to swear off HMCC and quit wasting time on it.

    Update3: Xbox App has it's OWN target drive setting, which several posters/videos referenced but which i could not access because the app changed since their posting. Now when you right click your avatar in the top right of Xbox App and choose settings, general, halfway down you'll see the drop down for it.

    However, that did not solve anything for me. Still fails in Xbox app and the failure details says to check downloads, but the link doesn't work and I can find no downloads in the Xbox app. Perhaps they mean downloads in MS Store.
