Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643

The latest update downloads and then fails to install.

  • OS Build # 19045.3930.
  • Update Troubleshoot tool repair but it does not help.
  • MS Windows Update Catalog does not have the update.
  • Other updates all went through without any trouble.

This is a brand new update. Is this a known issue? Is there a resolution specific to this update? (Please do not copy and paste standard procedure)

    I also have tried all of the Windows Update troubleshooting tips. No resolution. I was going to try the partition increase until I noticed that the needed partition size is 250 MB. I currently have 500+ MB. So, I see no need to be going through a disk partition exercise when I already have twice the amount indicated.

    I hate to say it, as I usually give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt, but it looks like the download file must be corrupted. Will wait and give them the requisite two-week project time to locate and correct the issue.

    Given that the security updates can't download, I figure maybe I will download the free security software that comes with my internet, and disable the Microsoft security until the problem is resolved.

    recovery partitions are meant to be before C drive, thats normal.

    I had the same issue, i.e. WinRE failed to enable after doing the manual resize due to Bitlocker being enabled. So I followed the WinRE deployment steps from here: Deploy Windows RE | Microsoft Learn (Step1 and used Disk management to assign and delete the drive letter) and after that used reagentc /enable. This was successful and the security update installed successfully afterwards too. ****

    You are on track. My issue is that my EFI partition (partition 3) is to the right of the OS partition due to MBR to GPT conversion a while back. Having this 100MB EFI partition between the OS and Recovery partitions makes it difficult. I got it all working now and Recovery partition is 750MB, but the old Recovery partition of 500MB is just sitting as unallocated space at the end of my disk now...
