How to fix the "That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method" screen.

I will follow the steps but cannot slove the problem

1. Check the Phone Number:
   • Ensure that the phone number you are trying to use isn't already associated with another account. Some services do not allow a phone number to be linked to multiple accounts.

but once i added same account to my both email , but verify code same asking on sms, after now 1 of my account blocked,
i need to verify with the number but same That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method so what should i do now?

Here to say that this is still an active issue and support doesn't seem to have solutions

I opened an account, never used it to do much because it was just to activate an Office subscription. I forgot my password and I tried 5 times to go through the recovery questions but they always say I haven't sufficient information. Now I can't even use my 9 days old subscription and I am left thinking why is this so hard.

I have swap phones and now I can’t get into my Hotmail account. I do have Authenticator on and when I backed up my phone and restored the authenticated did not go back.. I no longer have the old phone. I have a email and a phone number to try and restore it. . I get the email. And the Code and then it takes me through to putting in my phone number and it’s not working. I’ve tried incognito mode that still hasn’t worked. I’ve cleared the case. It will not let me get to the next stage of getting the code once I’ve put in the four digits of my mobile. I really need to get this fixed and I find that it’s not okay if Microsoft can’t support people who have used to factor and between software applications it doesn’t do the restore. Options of my two working backups.
