This MS-BS occurs because probably you've chosen to decline micro-soft offer to use their cloud for backup your private stuff. In response they require a huge recovery partition so one will be persuaded to give up his private data to big bro. You know what? I'm used to XP and 7 when I've been resolving stuff through the back door and ignoring all their BS including "recommended" updates to protect me from bogey man. Obviously who the bogey man is ... If someone is eager to mess up his system partition and loose three hours to back up his machine I wish him luck and condoleances. I am returning to roots here. Old bad habits. Cheers.

I have caught this note BEFORE I rebooted my PC to install the currently waiting updates.

In my Windows update listing, KB5034441 is shown as "pending install".

For the moment, I have now paused updates and I have not yet rebooted the machine.

Can I simply delete the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder to get rid of all the pending updates and wait until MS withdraws the faulty KB5034441 update from the update catalogue?

I assume that when I then reboot the machine, It will not find the relevant update files and cannot install them.

After I paused updates for a week and the list of available updates disappeared.

When I then scanned again for 'new updates' (resume updates), the list reappeared with the most recent updates and patches,

For a brief moment there is an indication that the system tries to install the faulty patch but then indicates an error for downloading the KB5034441 patch which appears to be no longer available. (Status: Download error 0x80070643)

Looks like MS have pulled the update (at least in part).

    Any comment?
