Just about every article says to shrink the Windows partition to make room for the recovery one. You can't extend something without shrinking something else before.

Edit: I didn’t think it worked, because it just seemed to take a long time. I actually shrank the size by 500 instead of the 250 in the video and it solved the problem.

I followed the instructions in this video exactly and it still didn’t work.

Shrank it? This video provides the same instructions as various other videos and articles. Which involve increasing the recovery tools partition size so that it has space to download the update. I have also followed these steps and even increased my partition to the size of 3.91 gigabytes - well beyond the recommended additional 250mb of free space.

That said, I've never seen anything saying to shrink the partition. But doing so worked for you, you're saying? Or did you mean to say you increased it by 500 instead of 250? I believe I tried that first myself before increasing it to almost 4 gigs finally out of desperation.

Problem solved by following steps from KB article.

I had to decrypt bitlocker enabled disk to enable the recovery partition.

Oops. Setting the Partition ID is done with this Command: SET ID
