Windows update (KB5034441) Error (0x80070643)

I don't know what the magical min size is; but a Recovery Partition size of 1500 MB (1.5 GB) has worked for me on two different Win10 machines (one Home and one Pro).

February 19/24 My Windows Recovery Partition has 800 mb unused and still will not download and update Security Update for Windows 22H2 for x-64 based system???

A legal inquiry.

For the "geniuses" who are telling us to extend/expand the partition. 558MB is greater than 500MB, for those parts of the world (excluding Microsoft and Redmond) that understand basic math.

Yet it continues to fail. Over and over.

I also did all this stuff and then some more with NO LUCK OR SUCCESS.

Of the Windows 10 PC's that I have (that are current and working), there is only one that does NOT have the error after installing Updates 2024-01 from June 27, 2023.

The different things I have found that the one WORKING PC has, the others do not: This PC does NOT have an Active Partition on the Boot Drive (usually c: or 0). It also has two Recovery Partitions - one at the front of the drive and one at the end of the drive, and are about 1000MB in size, and it has both an EFI and GPT Partition. Yes, I did try many things on this PC.

All of the Win 10 machines (6) with this trouble are GPT / MBR drives and boots. The machines all have the Windows Updates Auto download and installed marked in Advanced Settings. These are all older machines that are not Win 11 capable. They are all SSD's boot drives with HDD's also running. None are Bitlocked.

DANGER Will Robinson: It is difficult to move around Partitions without special software, and it is even more dangerous to try changing Patriations to Active or Inactive. Each of the test PCs has several physical drives hooked up and working as data drives. FYI, If you do change a Partition from Inactive to Active it could leave your PC inoperative. If you have a boot USB ESD you can get to the Command Prompt and get into DISKPART to remove the Active or Inactive status on Partitions. Do some study on the commands shown in KB5028997 - DISKPART, REAGENTC, SHRINK, LIST, FORMAT, and DELETE, also see Disk Management inside Windows. If you don't feel good about doing this kind of manipulation, then don't even try. Also, I have seen NO, NADA, ZERO effect this update has on PC operation so the Evil red "Error Encountered" message really does not seem to affect operation.

It is interesting, looking at Windows 11 machines, these PCs have two Recovery Partitions of about 250MB in size, and none of the Partitions on the main "boot drive" (C: or 0) are marked as "Active." I believe there is something to the Physical Disk Recovery Partitions size, main partitions, active partitions, and how they affect the installation of the Windows Update. This error issue could also be related to the UEFI or MBR (GPT) type of booting your PC does.
