Chinese characters on the first screen after switch on

The screen before I put my PIN in (I don't know if that is the lock screen or called something else) has suddenly started to use Chinese traditional language. I have checked and updated the region in control panel and copied the settings to lock screen and even ticked the new use box, as suggested by other solutions. I've rebooted several times but it still comes back as Chinese. When I click on the area that (I assume is saying) I want more information on the screen, it opens up MSN page with Chinese stories and information. How do I change the settings to show English text again?

Why has this happened? I have not changed any settings in my system prior to now.

I also can't get a screenshot because as soon as I touch a key the PIN request screen comes up replacing the screen with the Chinese characters in it.

    Same issue here ,lock screen on boot up is in Chinese ,all language settings are English. what ever is happening it is bypassing my pin to login because if i click the Chinese writing it just automatically logs in without my pin and opens a edge page in Chinese LOL ,Microsoft been hacked ?

    I have now simply reset the Lock Screen to Picture rather than Spotlight mode in settings - so no words at all in any language...... I am going to sit this out until Microsoft respond with a fix, rather than disappearing down any more workaround rabbit holes. Come on Microsoft - shift into gear...

    Same thing happened to me as well. I believe it is due to new updates. ANyway, I read all threads and followed some. What worked for me was:

    Change the lock screen image (Lock screen settings) to a normal image instead of Windows spotlight. Then lock--unlock. Go back to the lock screen settings and again set the image to windows spotlight. And it worked. Now on the lock screen, the text is not chinese anymore, rather english. Pretty weird but it worked!
