Windows Live Mail stopped working after last Windows 10 update

Since the last update of Windows 10, when I open Windows Live Mail every message produces "Message cannot be displayed." I tried running the "repair" utility, but nothing changed. Is this a widespread issue? I really liked Live Mail and had a lot of messages saved that I can no longer access. HELP!

    Louie, I have to do this manually several times a day because the registry changes the DWORD values back to 0.  I also cannot send attachments in my emails.  Any help would certainly be appreciated.  Thanks

    Hi JamesMcVoy Good day.

    I am Louie, a Microsoft Community member and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I hope I can help you on your concern.

    Its possible the Windows Live Mail got corrupted after the update, please perform the following below in the registry:

    1. click Windows Key + R (to open run)
    2. in the run type and enter: REGEDIT
    3. Go to Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows Live Mail
    4. Create these 3 DWORD entries (if they didnt exist) or change to 1 if they exist

    RecreateFolderIndex = 1
    RecreateStreamIndex = 1
    RecreateUIDLIndex = 1

    1. Restart Windows Live Mail.

    Sincerely
    Louie

    --- Updated on 5/1/21 and no emails could be received/sent. Did exactly as instructions above. Worked perfectly! Thank you Louie.

    Don't know what your "crashing" was but my problem was that after the a recent windows update when checking mail I would get an Error  0x800C013E box. Tried all kinds of other things before finding this thread.  What I posted as my fix came from looking at previous posts and doing a little interpreting. I had to try this fix a few times till I got everything just right.
