Lifecam HD-3000 bad audio

Hi I have Win 10, and I have a Lifecam HD-3000, and the audio has a hum.

I've tried a couple of units and they are the same, so I know it's not a physical fault.

I also tried changing the sampling rate, a solution offered in other forum answers, but that didn't work.

Does the Lifecam HD-3000 simply not work with windows 10, or is there a solution to get the sound working properly ?

    Has anyone tried to open the camera (there are only two screws, as disassembled here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOU6rBUK0Do) and see if the position of the microphone wires have any influence on the hum? It is possible that they were incorrectly placed when assembled and are too close to some circuitry.

    Obviously, this operation will void the warranty, so only try it if that's not an issue for you.

    Same problem here. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware fault of the recent models. I had a 330 Hz buzz on mine. Matt Cadwell's video has a 430 Hz buzz. The difference might be to do with sampling frequency?

    In July 2020 I tried 2 lifecams, and had to return both. I tried on a PC and a laptop, and at 2 different suburbs, to rule out ground loop, OS and environment issues.

    I tried a friend's older model lifecam 3000 on my laptop and there was no buzz on it.

    It's a real shame because the camera and mic quality are otherwise very good for the price. I'm really hoping a new batch corrects the issue, but i'm reluctant to buy without trying first. If you're buying this for camera only, and dont need audio, it's be fine.

    I raised a fault replacement request to Microsoft and have heard nothing yet. Great customer service....not.

    I had to do the same. I gave up on mine when it was suggested that the radiation from my moniter was effecting the microphone. I have a brand new desk top with a brand new monitor. I need my camera to be on the moniter. But I have a friend with the same model and when she brought it over there were no issues at all. So I dont believe its all of them.

    60 Hz humming is caused by your electricity outlet.
