I lost all my passwords on all my browsers

I lost all my passwords on all my browsers with the last Windows update. Every time I try to get support, I am directed to the spot to "save" passwords. They are still there allowing them to be saved. Each time I sign on to a site, I am asked if I want to save. I always say yes, but it still never saves. I had to change all my passwords and write them down because I didn't remember them because they were all saved before that update.  This is annoying, to say the least. Please, don't advise me on how to go into my browser settings and choose to save passwords. I know that. Everyone does.; It doesn't work!

I have been working on getting this fixed since the last update/ I got blocked out of my bank for attempting to use what I thought was my password.

I wish to opt-out of Windows updates. They only serve to make PC users, annoyed!

Maybe microsoft should be be making sure that task sched asks current logged in user before anything gets added the scheduler.

I had seen around december 2014 a widget for a browser create undesired action in windows.

did you keep any log of what you deleted from task sched?

it might be highly useful to the big MS

What if it were tied to ransomware issue plagueing hospitals and corporations

Do you think some malware tool may have installed something into.  Task scheduler. To scoop up passwords as we then had to re-enter passwords now

I just created a new local user with administrative privileges, then I copied all my files (including pictures, documents, etc.) from the old user folder to the new one.  Because it's a new user, a lot of stuff (including Edge) starts up fresh ("Welcome to Edge!") when you first click on it.  I still use Edge for some things but I *never* sign in or sync to Microsoft.  All my Google stuff is synced to Google and works just fine.  Why would I want anything to do with Microsoft anyway?  It's bad enough I'm stuck using their operating system.

I also made a new user on my PC. That user account works fine but it is starting from scratch. I wanted my pictures that I had saved to my usual login user.

I decide since it is Microsoft problem, when I reinstalled windows, I saved my files. Hence saved the problem. I deleted everything  about edge, then reinstalled Edge after I turned off syncing.  so Google holds my passwords fine now. All the other times, Google was fine until I would sync it with Edge. Edge can stay gone as far as I am concerned. Google is holding my passwords just fine.

OK, so it turns out that installing the 20H2 update did not solve the problem.  What DID solve the problem (and it has been solved for over a week now) is to create a new, local, login to my computer such that I do NOT log in to Microsoft.  Nor do I log into Microsoft when I go onto Edge.

However, something else that folks might want to look into.  If you type "task scheduler" into your search bar at the bottom of your screen, you'll see any tasks that are automatically scheduled.  When I created my local sign in , it essentially creates a new user.  Signing in as this user, no tasks are scheduled, whereas under my old login there were a ton of tasks scheduled.  These tasks were scheduled for very specific times like "11:07"  This may explain why I was able to "fix" the problem (eg, by installing the 20H2 update) and then walk away from the computer (or go to bed) and then have the problem reappear while I was away.  Try removing all scheduled tasks and see what happens.
