I lost all my passwords on all my browsers

I saw last night  Microsoft has a fix coming out for all of this.

so they are finally admitting it

I have to sign into chrome 20 times a day. that is bogus information. AND I DO NOT SIGN OUT. I should not have to have Chrome installed on a M$ machine. who is running this show Giggle or M$.

Mine happened similarly but it was WHEN I updated to 20H2. I have it about 50% now. I almost had it 100% before the newest update last evening and it was by starting 'SYNC' in Edge. But last Eve everything was changed I could not log into ANY site, especially any l sites, and including M$. My Authenticator on the phone quit working and the phone had not changed. I had to go to my M$ account and delete every form of authorization including the main PW and start from scratch. It took me over an hour due to the inability to log in properly. This morning Edge s working and had its PWs and Auto-fill data, but Edge (DEV) still had nothing and I had to import it all from CHROME. I believe mine started when I tried to do the Insider Beta update and it failed miserably so I rolled it back and to the best of my recollection that is what started the whole problem. M$ need to stop the presses and get the entire team working on getting this UPDATE and ROLLBACK process under control. This is a disaster and they are just compounding problems by continuing to play with new features instead of FIXING the entirety of the update process. By the way, you mentioned that you did a few things to make sure you had a good internet connection when you did your update. I have one of the best, most modern, fastest computers money can build, I have 300 Mbs D/L speed, and am connected to my router buy cat8 ethernet cable. It doesn't help when the server you are connecting to is overloaded, out of date, inadequate, and filled with half baked software.

OK, so problem is now finally fixed.  I spent the grand total of $39 to have a Best Buy Geek squad guy try to fix it remotely and after an hour he concluded that it was just a faulty install of the update.  Problem is that you can't back out of an install after 10 days and this was more than 10 days.  He told me 20H2 install, which is now rolling out, might fix the problem, but, of course, he did not have access to that.

I was dubious because some people here said that this problem only started occurring after 20H2 install.  Anyway, I got Microsoft help on the phone after agreeing to pay for support, but they guy said it would be free.  He also said that problem was probably caused by a faulty install and he had me download the file to install 20H2 (took about an hour for the download).  I then attempted to install 20H2.  Got to the very end (taking more than another hour) and then displayed a message that "an error" was found and it was going to back out and remove the install. 

I then did a number of things: removed the laptop from the docking station, moved closer to the router, prayed.  I'm not sure that any of those made an actual difference, but I then  tried to install again and it took another hour, but this time successfully installed.  Password problem is now gone.

I don't think this is a "update X caused this problem" as just the faulty installation of any update.  This explains why only a few people have it. I think you can actually find the files you need to install .20H2 on the internet.

I've also noticed a lag in the 'SYNC' between Edge and Edge (DEV). one will get stuck in 'Trying to sync' and only after 20 ~ 30 minutes will it resolve and then in about another 10 minutes, the passwords might show up. That is assuming I haven't already restored them myself. I guess I should get rid of this and dig my 286 out of the garage with win 3.1 on it. At least it was only slightly slower but didn't lose anything. And again when typing (DEV) above I got (D in the EV). Where is got those extra letters/words I have no idea. POSSIBLY SOME BACKUP in RAM?
