    Indeed.

The product completely FAILS on every metric, simply because it will NOT install.

By the time we get access to the GAME we paid for it will be on the “greatest hits”  list and retail for 20.00. I actually don’t care any more, as they are so hopelessly outclassed by ANY of the other flight simulators in almost ANY quantifiable sense.

AI- FSX/ Prepa3d. Visuals- ORBX True Earth HD for XP11. Airplanes to fly- Carenado for looks or Flysimware or Flight Factor for systems fidelity. Many, many more. I see developers are getting on board with MSFS- but I wonder if Mr. Rendazzo @ PMDG still feels as if the new platform will be “the way of the future” given how widely it is panned by aviation people. “Marshmallow Queen of the Skies V.3” - I can hear it now.

    This thing is a turkey.

    It was a GRAB.

A cash grab to fund their acquisition of Beth, not that they needed the money, but investors ARE investors. They NEEDED a hit. A hit freaking title since recycled Halo wasn’t getting it in the sales charts. What other property did they have? Now watch, functionality of Windows itself is going to be sold “ala carte” and we’ll have to pony up another 50.00 for media player.

    Dear sweet MS,

Do please remember the last time you did this. It did not end well. It will not this time.

Bethesda may be a hedge against an uncertain future in a country full of domestic disturbances and fickle trends but flight simulator people in particular DRIVE a lot of the PC hardware industry. How do I know? I am ONE of them, MS. Jensen over at Nvidia has been a pretty happy fellow with guys like me. Same for AMD, Intel and RAM manufacturers like Samsung or Hyundai.  I can run Skyrim on a TRS-80 more than likely, with a few mods from the Nexus. FSX and it’s ilk will EAT an under 5g processor, every time. I have three sets of VR goggles although sadly, no Oculus as I gave my Oculus away after the FB debacle. To include a V2 rift but that is intrusiveness for you.

Some of your products I have found useful. Cortana is a shipping ace and I let her watch my packages for me. I do NOT let her listen to the mike or use the “service” itself. Google has a pretty intrusive/effective solution there I’m already into the economy of.

But I have enough Apple products around here to supply a company with, in fact I have.

This does nothing to inspire me to change that, Microsoft. Effectively “stealing” people’s money like this and giving them NO satisfaction is BEYOND bad customer service. It has repercussions throughout the spectrum if you follow me, people will tend to vote with their wallets.

    Marketplace.

However ARE sales of new AC, cities and such through there, anyways? Modest but robust? As soon as zipping around under a bridge downtown with the Xbox controller the plane was built for gets old it will be “old” to your new core audience. Meanwhile most of us old heads will still know where Aerosoft, Carenado, ORBX and the various independent FS products may be found.

It is a pity that you’ve let short sightedness and need for Holiday release ruin this title.

A lot of long timers in the industry felt pretty burned at the sudden announcement in the first place. But that is what it is. Flight Simulator is owned by Microsoft. They have every right to change their product and update it, as they have here. My problem isn’t even with that, it’s the fact that I can’t even fly the thing. DOUBLE normal game release money and NO game.  And for those of you NOT in the insider club and on Beta, it IS a game.

What I mean by that is obviously I have played it, it was on my system for months.

Trust me folks, the screenies  are ALL it has.

I spent more time trying to get it to co-operate with my setup of two quads, pedals and a yoke than flying it. When I finally DID get it airborne it was pretty but NOT accurate by any degree, not for my local VFR. Wrong buildings for geographic area, inflated trees (a recurring **** in Beta), wrong or inaccurate coloring, the list goes on. I STILL paid my 120.00 in good faith, even though I bailed LONG before Alpha or gold. I ran it once more during late Alpha and it sorted my control problems but none of the things I had noted were fixed, so I gave it a pass until after retail. Big mistake.

I was only able to finally install the game after weeks of letting the installer stumble it's way through the files, attempting to download the same file hundreds of times. I was able to play until the USA update, which I've never been able to download despite many many attempts. I just let the latest update attempt to download overnight, of course it failed before getting even 10% through.

This almost feels like fraud at this point. Why can't the updates be downloaded from a web link or literally anywhere other than their completely terrible launcher? I have no network/connectivity issue like this with any other application or game, nor have I ever. What a garbage piece of software.

    Microsoft, you are terrible.

    Hullo Geoffrey, everybody

Yeah it stings doesn't it? Giving these robbers more coin just to have unusable product. I'm sorry about your experiences, it appears the DISK version is just as bad as the regular downloaded version. We must make a stink of this, on any and all outlets for Flight Simulator. There simply must be a way of getting the word out so that some nice EU or US lawyer sees it for what it is, a cash grab with a piece of software unfit for merchantability. I'd avoid throwing any money at Steam, they will give you the INSTALLER, then you will be in the same boat. It's something about our network or hardware configurations, and MS isn't telling. I am like yourself a bit I suppose, 56 and been at PC flight simulation since '95. I initially had MSFS installed on an HP Omen pre-built but I have subsequently built my own again. I refuse to buy another edition, or sign up for Game Pass, I purchased Deluxe, as I said before day 1, and so far I have never seen it run in RETAIL.

And don't tell me they DON'T know. I was on Beta team. They know. This happened as a result of their implementation of security measures, I guarantee it. Beta installed FINE. This ONLY started when it went release to retail, so I'm with you on "security measures" being to blame. Don't give me crud, as I say I can download Outer Worlds just fine.

In short, for ALL of us I believe the solution will be for us to raise a stink on the usual outlets until someone from MS responds to it. In other words become the negative, nay-saying trolls we ALL love so much on the internet and put it out there for people to read and know about. Less 120.00 Ka-chings for them to buy Bethesda with. This thing is a PIG.

A tarted-up, inoperable fat French pig that uses Bing. Now that we see it in the clear perhaps we can get OUR heads clear, and go back to pressuring the industry to produce the stuff we WANT to fly.

The numbers are THERE, it's just that yet again, MS has short sided themselves and after all the 360 controllers get put away and it isn't tops on XBox Live it will be consigned to the same heap as "Flight" was. If they can't sell PMDG on marketplace and make a cut however WILL this thing survive? Speaking OF PMDG, I wonder if they are ready to eat their words yet regarding the future of a certain competitor they refuse to develop for? Best hope MS fanbois pay deep for their product that they have "pronounced" as the future of Flight Simulation. I paid the ridiculous fee for the P3D version but no more.

I gave Asobo honest feedback throughout my time Beta'ing this pig. They steadfastly IGNORED what a lot of the potential consumers were telling them, that the autogen was WRONG, the trees ridiculously HUGE, and the flight model non-existent. We were told those things would get "corrected" by RTM, which is when I packed in the towel on them as far as it goes. I STILL purchased the software, and at Deluxe rate because I wanted to believe. Trust mis-placed and having MS shove their heads up their chutes is NOT a happy making experience.

I suggest we get together somehow, the ones of us that MS has treated like this. I appears from the feedback HERE that there are probably MORE of us than MS would like to admit. I suggest we further this thread, in the interests of either them shutting it down, the likely response, OR of making it more widely known. If Bethsoft can get sued over a DLC contract what the heck do WE call this?

I will never buy another Microsoft video game again. This is pathetic.

ALL of these instances above are a WARNING.

NONE of the helpful fixes will actually work in certain hardware/network instances, I know because I have been unable to fly since Beta. I have even re-formatted my PC after setting ALL Xbox and Windows Store settings to default and still unable to simply download it. Meanwhile Outer Worlds plays great if desired. Any drive I choose. Freshly formatted or not, SSD or not.

STAY AWAY from this suspect product. If you HAD the misfortune to buy it back in July, I feel your pain. And for future reference don't count on PayPal to enforce any degree of merchantability for it, they won't, I have tried.

MS/Asobo- Pilots already call you a joke, the complete inability to even SHIP an article to people who might be regarded as "core" is short sided and an obvious grab. Anyone with a copy of sketchup and a basic knowledge of it is cranking out scenery for people who want a fancier 3d slideshow and let's just leave it at that as I'm being gracious.

I'm not going to go all fanboi and non-constructive here but you HAVE shot yourself in the foot, and multiple times I see. I can tell you I already HAVE voted with my wallet at a third party developer's site, and I don't expect I'm alone. They develop products (airports) for your sim as well and act as a gateway much like your own marketplace but they don't play favorites, ALL have access to some form of add on there.

I like that. Nice and inclusive, rather than take it or leave it, ha ha. Oops you can't, too bad.

120.00 bux for buying up Bethsoft, Ka-Ching! No refunds, chump.

That is PRECISELY how it feels, Microsoft. And effectively what you've DONE, even to those of us who were actually trying to help you by Beta'ing your junk and buying day one copies to support you. Asobo has betrayed us ALL, for crappy net code, a thing you guys USED to be noted for. Oh, and a submerged London which I heard you've corrected as well as the Queen's digs. Too bad my own home state looks more like France in the type of buildings they chose (wrong) to populate the auto gen with, a thing they never once took note of during beta as it was "low/no priority" when I COULD get the thing to work.

The selfsame developer I mentioned above sells a product that combines Orthoscenery and custom autogen and landclass all in one convenient package that you guys should have used as the model with Bing, instead of this Voodoo solution you DO have. It's a Frankensteinian Pig with lipstick FAR worse than it's competitors' some of whom are based on it's Predecessor's code, ALL of whom got better response out of me as far as add-ons. I have a total of FOUR for this one, in excess of it's being the Deluxe model. ALL of them are loyalty jobs for owning the thing in your Competitor's product/s.

I have a 2Tb NVME drive ENTIRELY full of that developer's product for just ONE of your competitors. I have spent THOUSANDS there over the years, for just about every sim we could name, starting with yours as represented by FSX and the ESP codebase.

I have three sets of goggles for the gogglevision with an Nvidia TI class card to run them on and have since Beta. The original box you cleared me to run it on was an HP Omen pre-build with an 8700k and a 1080ti, but I have subsequently built my own from scratch with a 2080ti and a 9900K. Obviously we didn't run gogglevision in Beta, but my system WAS so equipped, to include the latest SteamVR beta for Windows Mixed as I was primarily on my Odyssey+ back then. A fact that was hysterically acknowledged by my acceptance into the Beta for VR! Which I COULD NOT RUN.

God save us all from Microsoft, and what they have done to Flight Simulator. It is a beautiful use of a game controller, but that is where I'm afraid it ends. Since I can do much the same thing for free sans the pretty airplane online and the more SIM focused titles I have with their appropriate addons simply make you irrelevant. Not being able to simply download the thing is a joke and I hope people who have this problem continue to post here, as you have offered us NO practical or effective solution other than the one by your employee, in the first thread. As that does NOT work for us who are so afflicted and we are constantly pointed HERE in a **** I hope this thread grows.
