Only a flimsy “manual”....
Tried both. I had been having problems with my new computer, and reinstalled windows on the C partition. I had an old installation of MSFS on the 2nd partition. After installing windows, I tried to reinstall it on the same partition, and I don't think it liked it. I ended up reinstalling windows again (3rd or 4th time) and this time I deleted the 2nd partition also, and made it into one big 2tb drive. Installed fine. Still have computer problems, but think I have hardware and possible driver problems. I have 2 issues with it, one, while flying the computer will blank the fancy LED's on the keyboard, and MSFS will just pause for a minute or so, then resume. The computer continues to function as I can open or close browsers or other apps, I just pause flying...
The other problem I have are 2 devices that device manager recognizes (as PCI Device and SM Bus Controller) but can't find drivers for. I downloaded all known drivers for my MB , but nothing seems to fit these 2 devices.
MFGr says they will issue an RMA, but the problem is, can I get a replacment? I9 RTX3090 all EVGA system.
Thanks for your help!

Like the energizer bunny this thing just keeps on going. Its an installer problem. We shouldn't have to try the equivalent editing the config.sys and autoexec.bat to get a DOS game going with a modern title.
Microsoft should be embarrassed but they don't care, they have our money and nothing we can do about it.
When I try the following, Microsoft store does not show.
Reset the Installer
In addition, I installed MSFS 2020 (Deluxe)_ from the store, but when I click play, nothing happens. It's supposed to start downloading (for days it seems) , but nothing happens. Task Manager does not show it running. Ideas?
Thanks Jim Tanis
Well at long last I finally got back into it last night.
Got the damned thing installed after four million attempts and almost as many disconnects and finally I get back in and reset the bandwidth setting.
Unfortunately NOW it thinks I am from SE Asia for some reason and has locked all my content. So of course a reset erases epverything and we are BACK on the Asobo merry go round.
We’ll see. I got ALL night this time, MS.
