Windows 10 2004 optimization/defrag bug

Hi all

I've just completed the Windows 10 2004 upgrade and I have noticed 2 issues.

  1. When I manually trim my SSD in the drive defrag/optimize tool in windows and I reboot it says 'never optimized' when i go back. I heard this was a bug in insider preview which they obviously didn't fix.
  2. I happened to have the defrag/optimize tool open at the same time as Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance, I initiated a manual maintenance and I caught windows defragging my SSD and then it trimmed it straight afterwards. If i click the optimize button in defrag/optimize tool it only trims it and not defrag.

This seem to only happen when Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance initiates its automatic maintenance or if I select start maintenance.

This is concerning as it should never attempt to defrag an SSD.

My laptop is only a few months old and came with a PCIe SSD and Windows 10 1909 so there is no compatibility or lack of trim support issues obviously.

I have disabled scheduled weekly optimizations in the defrag/optimize tool which prevents it from attempting to defrag when the control penal maintenance attempts its maintenance when the computer is idle.

I want to let everyone know that this is happening so others are aware. My other computers that have the latest update are also doing it.

    Hello. sorry I just read it and do not understand what contains politics, for example. if the other I understand a little bit.

    For example: the binary number 0 means off while 1 means on.

    Abbreviation: IPv4 = Internet Protocol Version 4

    DNS = Domain Name Server

    FTP = File Transfer Protocol

    I / O = Output / Input

    etc. (I don't mention everything because there are hundreds or even thousands)

    That is all. Thanks.

    not. I'm not from the future. I often read news portals. For example: Bleepingcomputer, mspoweruser, Windows Latest and others.

    I got information from the comments of Disqus Mayank Parmar (News Writer on Windows Latest).

    Thanks.

    Don't spend any energy in explaining to noobs the concept of the planet's time zones ... you simply can't win ... :-D

    Noob, now that's funny. I'm certain you could learn more than a few things from this noob.

    LMBO! You have demonstrated to this community, in much detail, the "few things" we can learn from you! LOL Just back read all the stuff (aka nonsense) you wrote about this problem, including the time zone hiatus. Tough luck that MS now acknowledges that it really *IS* a bug!  I rest my case, the community is clever enough to judge ... mane, tekel, fares IMHO.

    Sorry. I'm not interested in what you say. as you say. (Jokes). because if I use a PC, I'm serious like a professional. even in my Downloads Folder (%username%\Downloads) I'm about 80 to 90% contains the installer program.

    Hopefully tomorrow there will be updates to fix defrag problems in Windows 10 May 2020 updates and other minor bugs. and the thread is marked as resolved.

    (Maybe) If Windows 10 20H2 enters the Insider Release Preview Channel I will try it. (Because Most Stable. Approaching Retail / RTM Version). Expected to be Available to General Users Towards the end of 2020 (Around October - November 2020).

    Note: Windows 10 20H2 is a Minor Update Like Version 1909.

    You're going on ignore, I don't communicate with idiots.

    You have a lot to learn about PC's in general. Good luck, maybe stop being rude to others in the future.
