I found, meanwhile, that uninstalling any of the recent PowerToys version in 20H2 does ease - not entirely remove - the issue and makes 20H2 working quite well.

It seems that the integration of PowerToys with Windows Explorer does somehow add to the freezing. After uninstalling, at least with my machine, I found around 70% less freezing per hour (incident count went down from 10 to around 3 times).

Thanks, this removed the freezes for me. I was on PowerToys v20, upgrading it as well and seeing if the issue persists.

    Hi Don,

I haven't seen you online for quite some time recently, from the middle of Dec 2020 I believe.

I hope everything is all right with you.

    Happy 2021.

    F.G.

    Hi F.G.

    Happy New Year all!

Unfortunately, I have been sick with cancer for the past year or so. Lately, I spend almost all day in bed. I am not able to sit at my computer for any length of time, which makes it difficult to participate here in the Community Forums.

I have managed to install the DEV builds on my main PC each week, but that is about it.

    Don,

Sorry to hear about your battle, I whish you the best and join Johnny hoping you can beat this.

    Regards, F.G.

    Hi Don,

Wish you the best Don. It is a tough battle.

Recall our conversation regarding using a different Host in VMware and retain activation in Guest. Finally got around to testing this.

Installed VMware in a new laptop, took a copy of Guest from main system and proceeded to run it. On first startup, VMware asks if this vm was copied (default) or moved. Choose copied, no activation. Replaced same fresh copy of Guest back, this time choose "moved". It did retain the activation. Currently have 8 activated vm's.

This was great as slowly purchasing parts on sale for the new i9 system. So far new 850 Watt PS, 1TB NVMe, new Corsair iCue liquid cooling dbl rad. Have couple spare video cards so will use the 1080 (6GB) out of main for now, not a hard core gamer anyhow.

Have not made my mind up on new case or rebuild yet, seems they come without drive bays now for any I prefer. Then again, have not touched my DVD or Blu-ray drives in years. Current case however has a drive slot on top for quickly hot-plugging any HD or SSD. Must have a stockpile of over dozen drives. Suppose I could get a docking station for them, more clutter :-)

My thoughts are with you my Canadian brother. You can beat this.

    Regards,

    Johnny
