    One of the things many sites mention to try first is:

    "Before trying out any of the fixes, we would advise the readers to restart their PCs at least 3 to 4 times."

    If that didn't work, follow the steps here:

    Enter Safe Mode when you can’t boot normally

    For some reason, this text box has an issue with this specific URL above (all others have worked without being changed).

    Replace the (dot) with just a period.

    For Step 7, select "Startup Repair".

    If the Startup Repair doesn't work, repeat the steps above & follow all steps up to Step 9.

    For Step 9, select #5: "Enable Safe Mode with Networking".

    In Safe Mode, uninstall Updates known to cause problems (mainly KB4524244 & KB4532693):

    1. Press & Hold the Windows button & then Press R.
    2. Enter in ms-settings:windowsupdate & click OK.
    3. Click on View update history.
    4. Click on Uninstall updates. (Upper Left-Hand corner)
    5. Right-Click on the Update you want to uninstall, then, click “Uninstall” (NOTE: Not all Updates have the "Uninstall" option).

    Hi looks like my pc just updated and is now after 45 mins still trying to load login screen

    Help?

    What I had to do to fix the issue where it was stuck not showing a login screen, select  the restart 

    option, if not available press the reset button, if this is not available select  the power button, if not available turn off the power switch from the power supply, last pull the power cord.

    Depending on what was needed, restart or reconnect items and start the device.

    Interestingly, some moderators in this community are having difficulty realizing what happened with the KB4535996 update and how they defend Microsoft with a sword, when even from here the same company can take advantage of solving problems.

    They insist on perpetually suggesting the clean boot procedure and whatever, that nothing can if the KB has determined the problem.

    I also noticed a certain lack of respect towards those who studied the problem after a third party no longer worked, for example: after years that this app as a Sign Tool worked without problems and after KB4535996 no longer.

    I was accused of generating panic when I limited myself to giving information.

    Some community moderators should live the world outside of Microsoft, it would do them good.

    This needs to be addressed. We should be able to prevent an optional update if it causes problems. No I have to either pause updates for 7 days and then uninstall KB4535996 again. This update causes both my laptop and desktop to not go into sleep mode.

    Please, either fix this update or let me block it from installing.

    I had a simple solution in the end. After fixing the problem only to crash again and again, to the point the hard drive became unreadable, I gave up and bought a Mac.

    I simply need reliability and not be in situation where a system crashes at a critical  point. I regret ever changing platforms.
