Looking through the forum I have noticed that many others have had this problem!

Two days ago a popup gave me a warning about space management that was being switched on.

Surprised at this I checked my C:\ drive to see what was going on and it was nearly full. On double clicking my C:\ drive I noticed a strange file entitled UKLog.dat, that was increasing in size as I was watching it.

I ran AVG Antivirus to scan the whole computer, and nothing was found. I also ran Malwarebytes premium checking for Rootkits and again nothing was found.

I then restarted my PC in safe mode and was able to delete it without any ill effects. But directly I restarted in normal mode, it was back eating up space.

I have tried deleting programs to see if I can find the offending program, but as yet no luck.

To add to the mystery,the first time I noticed it, I double clicked the file and PhotoDirector 8 opened up, so I deleted that program thinking that may be the cause. but no I still haven't found where its from.

Please does anyone have any suggestions?

Yardımın için çok teşekkürler. Uklog. dat dosyası çeşitli anti virüs ve Malwarebytes çalıştırdıktan sonra bilgisayarımdan gitti. Hangisinin dosyayı temizlediğini gerçekten bilmiyorum ama şimdi gitti. Yardımınız için tekrar teşekkür ederim. ve İngiltere ve kendimden en iyi dileklerimle.

    Hello, I opened "notepad", typed a letter in a new file, saved it anywhere as "uklog.dat", then made it read-only, and copy this file to the root of your system c:\ if your are asked for admin-rights, confirm, already a few days it remains unchanged at 1kb size.

    This is a Scheduled Task. Have you looked into Task Scheduler to see a list of tasks. 

    Open Task Scheduler > Click Display All Running Tasks on the right column

    You might also open EventViewer and look at the Logs to determine this Task

    You'll see information on Waitable Timers in this document.

    Sorry I'm late. Forget unnecessary programs like Unlocker. Open cmd (Admin), and write the following command:

    So, as I said open the search bar and type command prompt or cmd. Right click on it. Run as administrator. Type this:

    DEL /P /F /S /A "C:\UKLog.dat"

    Hello, LenWatts1,

    What is the make/model of your Device?

    Intel or AMD graphics? Have you checked for updates on these websites?

    Do you live in the UK?

    Do you allow the computer to Hibernate or Sleep?

    Have you tried opening the log in Notepad to determine the importance of this log?

    Do you work with graphics - Mixer, Blender, etc..? OS such as Linux?

    It is safe to delete the log or you can right click on the log > Rename .old

    However, the log may re-create itself if it is necessary for write functions.

    What is a .Dat file

    I've checked my device and do not have uklog.dat listed in files.
