Hi thanks for the reply and help. I do not use Windows 7 anymore but I hated Windows 10 so much I kept it as an option so I could go back to it. I have not had any issue with this configuration until this recent Windows update. I have been concerned it was virus related, so I did install Norton which is arguably a bigger cause for concern than the failure to update. Still not sure the root cause.

(1) Definitely, the first thing to do is to backup your user files & raw downloads in case things get worse. That will be useful in case you must do a clean install & will need to reinstall apps & copy back your files. I think I posted instructions for a clean install elsewhere in this thread. 

(2) Even make a Windows system image backup which will preserve the current state, if you want to start again from here. It can restore all your partitions to what they were at the time of making the backup. Want instructions?

(3) Your DiskPart shows a Disk 0. If you have more disks, select & show those too. I want to know whether you've got another System Reserved elsewhere. It's no good to have two.
