Why are these files appearing in quantity (every 15 minutes), while running Windows 10 home, in my /apps/local/temp folder? They did not appear before the last 3 days ago.

    Microsoft is making billions off us and can't even enter a discussion that has been going on for 6 months or more?  These log file started showing up immediately after a Windows 10 update for me and I have no doubt that the update caused it.  Put someone on it, find the simplest solution with the least side-effects and post it so we have a M$ approved fix for this issue.

    Something is causing this task to be started every 15 minutes at which time it creates a log file and immediately exits.  Is another task starting it?  Is a system timer starting it?

    What the heck is going on and rather than follow any amateur fixes, I would like a M$ fix for this issue.  Pay one of those programmers to answer this thread - after all, it's being posted to "answers.microsoft.com" so Microsoft should provide the solution.  Do you not monitor your own answer site?

    WAKE UP MICROSOFT !!!  Spend a few grand out of those billions and have someone answer these threads that represents M$.

    I was able to find that the program  that was generating these  files were generated with a program that seemed to be connected to  MS Office -- but one posted noted that they  never had Office installed --- but  still got them 

    It seems that it has something to do with updates from MS ---- I seemed that the one solution  suggested seems to work -- I too have w10 / home 

    the  solution was to 

    run msconfig32 

    set to to  reboot in  minimal safe mode 

    reboot 

    cd to tmp folder --- delete all the mat log file 

    run msconfig32 again -- reset to normal boot mode 

    reboot  

    this seems to have stop the files for showing up 

    it would be nice if MS would fix this -- are you listening MS?

    It's created by a Microsoft Program called LocalBridge.exe

    I have not only disabled the smartbyte service but also changed the executable so smartbyte does not appear in my task manager list of running processes. However, mat-debug-xxxxx.log zero byte files are still propagating in my temp folder, every 15 minutes or so.  Is there an embedded addition that has been made to my operating system recently?  I seem to remember a notification concerning this appearing on my screen a while back and I ignored it. I have Version 1909 10.018363 build 18363.
