Microsoft store doesn't recognize my device to install

I recently decided to try the Game Pass for their $1 dollar promotion but I can't install any of the games that are available....the install button is greyed out and when I select the "..." to install on my device it doesn't have any device listed although I clearly have my PC connected to my Microsoft account.

There are many reasons why your device is not recognized on the Microsoft Store. Assuming you are using the same Microsoft account on the Store and the PC, some of the possible causes and resolutions are as below:

1. You bought an app/game that is not intended for PC.: For Example, Minecraft has 2 versions on the Microsoft Store. One is for PC, and other is for Xbox. Make sure you did not buy the Xbox one - if so, take a refund immediately and buy again. Xbox version requires game pass to run on PC.

2. Your device is not up to date: Many games or apps require supported release of Windows to run. Make sure your Windows version is up-to-date. A 2-year-old OS release may have compatibility issues with the app. Minimum OS requirements are listed on the app page. You can update your device from https://aka.ms/Windows10

  1. Your PC hardware does not meet the minimum app/game requirements: Certain apps/games, like Forza Horizon 4 require high-end graphics to run, especially a dedicated GPU. If your device does not have one, you may not be able to install the app. In that case, consider updating hardware.
  2. Make sure you are logged in to the Xbox console companion app: Xbox console companion app in Windows helps to track your achievements in the game. If you are not logged in there, your device may not be recognized. In that case, open it and log in using the same account. You can also try installing the app or game from the Microsoft Store in built the Xbox Console companion on the left menu.

  1. If you logged in using a Microsoft account recently/did a clean install: If you recently logged into your Windows 10 device recently, it takes a while to propagate the change to the devices list. In that case, wait for some hours, likely 12 and try again.
  2. The device limit is exceeded: Microsoft Store allows only 10 devices/account to install an app or game. If you think you are exceeding the limit, remove devices from https://account.microsoft.com/devices and try again.

    OMG same issue! The issue isnt the game, account or anything other than complete greed and idiots who cant figure out how to securely provide content. Im deleting all Microsoft Games and installing cracked version because THEY WORK.  Any paid Microsoft game has so many encryptions and account "requirements" there is mountains of areas to create issues. All their efforts to secure this stuff has made it impossible to enjoy fresh games an just play. Ill say it ...Im illegally downloading from now on and I hope they try to take me to court, they cant even properly identify my device. **** em. Install pirates bay and get peer blocker and let em figure it out. Rant over, money saved.

    I tried to do this but the only button I have is "Buy as gift".  I clicked that and it was just about to take the money from my credit card when I thought better of it, bearing in mind I've wasted the purchase price on this once already.

    Hi Summit...thanks for the response...unfortunately neither of 

    you suggested fixes worked...updated to latest W-10 yesterday

    and am using a powerful gaming computer...very unlikely that 

    the Sim in incompatible...now running Xplane 11 and P3D 4.1...

    the update, though probably needed, did not solve the problem...

    I may have stumbled upon a fix, at least for me...I think the Sim

    is now downloading...even though I have a 1G internet connection, 

    the download seems to take forever...if it succeeds, I will post here later...

    In the meantime, folks who want to can try the final step in my process...

    go to the Microsoft Sore and login...search for "Flight Sim"...that will bring up 

    a choice of the versions of the Sim...cllick on the one you purchased...in my 

    case, I saw a message that I owned the Sim...what I did then (out of frustration) 

    was to click on the "purchase" or "buy" box...to my great surprise a box opened

    and the download (I think) started...though I did a few things in between, not

    sure any helped but this last, if it is working (which I think it is)

    If anyone wants to try, let me know if it works...DISCLAIMER: use this at your own 

    risk...

    If I get the Sim downloaded and working, I will post all the steps I did...
